  • Digi Card Creation Counter Limit?

Dear all,

I am aware that with easy money I can have 25 DigiCards at the same time.

However, when reading through a few other posts, there seems to be a limit on how many times I can create a card additionally.

Can anybody tell me the exact limit, i.e. you are allowed to spawn x cards in a certain timeframe.

I can not find anything regarding in the TCs.

Also, in a blog post it reads:

Lassen Sie die Daten Ihrer DigiCard nach jedem Kauf automatisch aktualisieren, oder löschen Sie sie einfach und erstellen Sie eine neue mit einem Fingertipp in der App. ( Sorry German, basically it suggests you being able to delete a Digi Card and spawn a new one after a purchase)

But if there is a rate limit for spawning cards, that does not seem advisable.

I am aware that it is an entire different question if such behavior makes sense, I am simply more interested in the issue of being imposed with restrictions I at least can not find crystal clear facts on.

    You can have more if you're ok with paying extra. With the Easy Money plan, there are indeed 25 DigiCards included in the plan cost.

    Yes. As far as I know, it's 100 per year. However, as this is not clearly stated anywhere as you have also found out, it's hard to say anything more definite about that. The best info we still have is from back when DigiCards were still called "Online Cards" by bunq and when the limits were lower from August 2020, an employee posted this here https://together.bunq.com/d/35807/31

    All bunqers with Premium, Business and SuperGreen subscriptions can have 5 Virtual cards for free, you can also add 5 extra Virtual Cards to your account for extra fees. This way you can have a max of 20 Virtual cards per 12 months.

    Note: Back then the Easy Money plan was called Premium, and the Easy Green plan was called SuperGreen.

    From what I could gather, they upped both the included card limit and the overall yearly limit. From 5 to 25 and from 20 to 100. But the latter limit is now not documented anywhere, so yeah... take that info with a grain of salt.

    Blog posts, ad reads etc. are written by the marketing department. My money is on the person who wrote that not knowing about the yearly limit either. Or they might have confused it with the rotating CVC feature that you could use to change the CVC after every payment.

      To be honest, although I don't plan on spawning cards just for fun and probably won't have problems, I still feel like this is a big issue just out of principle.

      It simply cannot be the case that such things are not clearly communicated, can it?

      I am still on the fence on completely switching to bunq.
      While I like the feature set, things like that are putting me off.

      But that's another topic.

        @schachem#264750 My take on it: it‘s such a high limit for their intended use-case (which is not creating a new card after every purchase I think, but even then you would have to make like 2 purchases every week) that they don‘t mention it because they don‘t expect a reasonable user to reach it.

        All systems have limits somewhere. Otherwise that‘d be dangerous. For example even though there‘s no official limit on how many sub-accounts you can create (as long as you‘re willing to pay) I‘m sure if you go in the 1000+ range there‘ll be an end to it at some point. And it‘s for the better, as it‘d just not be reasonable for a single user.

        Of course, feel free to make up your own opinion here. My impression is that bunq communicates these kinds of limits more frequently and clearly than most.

          there is a topic where this was already discussed fully. The last official info I got is the following:

          “Hi Jakob

          I reached out to support regarding this to get official and clear info regarding digicards.

          I can indeed confirm that there is no Yearly limit.

          Only ACTIVE CARDS counts toward the 100 active card you can have.

          In your plan you have 25 for free and can add 25 more for €19,99 per month until you reach 100 cards (I don’t know who may need 100 digicards simultaneously but you can)“

          This info is from July 2022 after a really long chat with support.
          It would be nice if someone from the team could confirm it.
