  • 🇩🇪 German - SEPA IBAN Acceptance - Collective Topic

I switched my bank account partly to bunq now and made the following experience:

It is a good idea to leave "XXX" away as the BIC is shown as BUNQNL2AXXX in the bunq app which confuses some systems / companies.

The following companies in Germany accepted my bunq IBAN:
1u1 MAILUMEDIA GMBH-GMX
evopark GmbH
SKY DEUTSCHLAND FER.
Telekom Deutschland GmbH (für Festnetz / Internet und Mobilfunk Postpaid)
domainfactory GmbH
Allg.Deutscher Automobil-Club ADAC e.V.
VATTENFALL EUROPE SALES
XING SE

    Leaving out the XXX may be a good tip. Maybe that’s why Stadtwerke Schwäbisch Gmünd is having problems with my bunq account. Or should they be able to implement my account anyways?

      @Robert-Silver-Turtle-4265395482#71769 For a direct debit on any IBAN they BIC is not needed at all. You only need a BIC for SWIFT transfers.

        @JeroenE#71771 Ok.
        Man I learn something new here every day. 😂🤗

        So why are they having problems implementing my bunq account?

          @Robert-Silver-Turtle-4265395482#71774 Sorry, but I can't tell you that. My guess is either incompetence or they just don't care.

            @JeroenE#71776 I was assured yesterday by the Stadtwerke that by next month it would be working.

              @JeroenE#71780 We’ll see. They’ve only had six weeks till now. 🤪

                @JeroenE#71771 If you fill in some web forms in Germany with a foreign IBAN the forms ask for the BIC and if the BIC is missing you can't complete. Sometimes when it seems to fail I made the experience that leaving out the XXX I can complete. That's it.

                  @Heiko-Hartwig#71826 I don't know why they ask for the BIC, but it is not needed for any SEPA transaction.

                    Hey, die ergo direkt möchte meine NL iban nicht akzeptieren. Habt ihr Erfahrungen mit der Ergo direkt ? Ich wollte es der BaFi melden, allerdings funktioniert der Link zur Website nicht.

                      @Falco-Cyan-Swan#71896 Wie hast Du denen das mitgeteilt? Anruf oder Online per Webformular?
                      Steht nicht Ergo hier bereits als Anbieter im Thread bei dem das geht?

                        @Heiko-Hartwig#71936 Per online Formular nicht möglich deshalb per Mail nachgefragt. Telefonisch bekam ich dann die Aussage das es nicht möglich sei. Ich werde es noch mal per Mail probieren, ein andere User meinte bereits es sei bei ihm möglich gewesen

                          Lastschrifteinzug bei Handyticket Deutschland (über LogPay) ist scheinbar auf deutsche IBANs beschränkt. E-Mails an LogPay und mein Verkehrsunternehmen sind raus.

                          Update #1: LogPay sagt dazu: "Eine Umstellung der Systeme ist bereits beschlossen und wurde in die Wege geleitet." Ich habe sie aufgefordert, mich diesbezüglich auf dem Laufenden zu halten.

                            Is a company required to offer direct debits? Or can it just require me to schedule payments on a monthly basis.
                            I ask because I’ve submitted not once but twice a new direct debit formula to the Stadtwerke Schwäbisch Gmünd. And up until today, in their online portal my Sparkasse account was the account of records. Now today, the online portal says that I’ve yet to provide an account for direct debit. So I’m wondering if they’re just going to require me to schedule the payments myself.

                              @Robert-Silver-Turtle-4265395482#72664 Company’s are not required to offer direct debits. However, if they do offer it and it isn’t working: you might want to contact their support for help?

                                @LH-Black-Wolf#72665 I wouldn’t know how to help their support.
                                Till now their communication with me has been horrible. So I’m just going to wait til April to see what happens. Maybe they’ll find the 2 forms I’ve already signed directing them to use my bunq account by then. And if not, then they’ll need to contact me if they want their money.

                                  Is simply not true. Besides having a previous direct debit for the last thirty years, in February I personally handed them two forms authorizing them to use my bunq account.

                                    What’s going on here? I’m trying to send a screenshot with my previous post but bunq won’t let me. 😬

                                      @Robert-Silver-Turtle-4265395482#72664
                                      I wouldn't give to much though about how it is displayed in their online portal, especially if they haven't properly implemented full SEPA support and acceptance yet.

                                      In any case, if they're using direct debit to debit from customer's accounts, they cannot refuse to do so for you because your bank account is located abroad. Especially in the case of utility companies, they often have specific clauses in their contracts (or T&C) that explicitly stipulate use of direct debit.
