  • Cannot Get Accepted

I'm currently a KBC account holder living in Ireland, so looking for another bank with as good app service as KBC - which was non-existent until Bunq came along. Have tried to create account twice though and for some reason I keep getting the message 'I don't fit criteria'. I can't imagine any reason why not though, so I really want to discuss with Bunq support - not just the automatic messaging. Does any one know a contact number?

@New-Magenta-Fish-404522892#265321 Hi! If you contact bunq support, you first get an automated reply from bunq bot, which tries to find an answer to your question. If your question isn't answered, you can tap a button and contact a real human bunq employee.

The only way to contact bunq support is via the in-app chat. There's no phone support.

@thijsoost#265322 Thanks Thijs, your the best support here!

For an update, I was refused an account for a second time for no clear reason so went to support. I did have someone reply, not a bot, but they copied the same general response and refused to give further clarification - whilst wishing me a lovely day...

Bunq appears to be an ideal banking service but unfortunately the customer service will need a few years development. Very disappointed and this begs the question, if the service is this bad could I really trust Bunq with my finances?

@New-Magenta-Fish-404522892#265638 Banks usually do not give any more precise information about why they don't accept certain customers, otherwise it would make it easier to undermine their requirements or to cheat their verification systems. Not saying that you in particular would be doing something like this, just that this is a reason for why more specific information about requirements are generally not given out to the public.

There's not much one can do except try to open an account at another bank. In most EU countries, some or all banks are required to offer basic accounts that can be opened by anyone. So even if you're facing acceptance problems with multiple banks, you should always be able to get such a bank account. In the case of The Netherlands, this is not a requirement for all banks, so bunq does not offer basic accounts.

There is one competitor that does, but the opening process is definitely more complicated than for normal accounts.
