If the receiving bank doesn't support RT1 or TIPS, the transaction will be sent as a regular SEPA transfer (which takes 1-2 business days).

BUNQ is doing this automatically. The only problem is, when BUNQ SEPA instant is somehow failing or BUNQ decides that the payment needs to be verified then they just do a normal SEPA transaction.
In case it was a urgent transaction for you, BUNQ then decided without asking you, that that you have to wait.
