  • How is €17.99/month for easy green justified?

I love the entire concept of Easy Green and I’ve been an greener for quite a while now. However, when I try to promote it, people ask me how the €17.99/month is determined/justified. People are skeptical and think bunq makes a massive margin on these costs.
It’s a fair challenge and one I cannot answer.
@bunq: you are all for transparency, so pls tell us what the breakdown is of the easy green price of €17.99/month. So that we can convince more people to join the movement 😊

@New-Yellow-Falcon-3863564510#271522 €8,99/month is the normal fee for all the features (the Easy Money plan), the rest is used to plant trees: https://www.edenprojects.org/

      Hey 👋
Like Thijs said, you can have all the banking Features bunq is offering with the Easy Money Plan. If you want to neutralize your carbon footprint and maybe some extras with the Metal Card, if you own it, you’re good with Easy Green. Is it expensive? Maybe. For me it’s a choice you can make if you want to, bunq isn’t forcing you with blocking features only for Easy Green.

@New-Yellow-Falcon-3863564510#271522 Yeah, that's why I went with Easy Money instead. Everyone is able to plant trees using Eden Reforestation Projects at a price of about 15 Cents per tree (i.e. you are able to plant around 60 trees with the 9 Euros you save). ;-)

Ok, additionally you loose the insurances that are included within Easy Green. But in my opinion their coverage is rather limited anyways.

But Easy Green is an nice option, if you spend more than 6100 Euros per month. ;-)

          Thanks for the responses!

@New-Yellow-Falcon-3863564510#271557 As for how much "margin" there is in general from customer fees, you can also refer to the yearly reports: https://www.bunq.com/policies/transparency It doesn't break out the Easy Green plan in particular, but you can see income from customer fees vs. actual money spent on the operation.

I don't think bunq ever stated that this is the case. Of course, tree planting is exclusive to the Easy Green plan, but how highly you value it vs. other exclusive features depends on the individual customer. That being said, nothing wrong with coming to the conclusion that the Easy Green plan is not a good deal.

Every business aims to maximize profits. As for how much they are making and especially how much the CEO and other high-ranking employees take home with them, we don't have to make guesses. It's all in the public yearly reports: https://www.bunq.com/policies/transparency Personally I feel perfectly comfortable with these numbers, but everyone is free to judge by their own standards.
