bunq should add this!

Yes, I need this. I didn't know the name on the card was used in the app. Now I have 3 cards with the same description...

I was also looking for this! When I started with bunq I didn’t pay enough attention to the name on the card.

I also would like to have this feature. As I ordered the cards I didn’t know the the description on the card is also the label i the app.

As the card description is printed on the card (or not if left empty), the description or name can't be changed. This is what I asked last week and got this answer.

Would be nice if the name is changeable.

              So: +1

                +1
Card descriptions in app should be changeable.

And if for some reason there’s some huge technical hurdle holding up the implantation of this, then at least when ordering a card it should perhaps be made more obvious that the description is also used in the app to tell the cards apart (perhaps even with a visual example, just like how you are shown where the description would show up on your card)

Agree that it is not very clear during card request that the card name is permanent. Please allow it to be changed in the app. There should not be any technical hurdle for this.

@Lotte-Golden-Zebra#13727 While ordering a card, it is about a DESCRIPTION. I would never add a word which is already on the card, like Maestro.

I have two bunq cards too, and I cannot See any difference in the history. A user would not think that a description becomes the cards name in the app.

To balance between user-experience and keeping things simple, an alias description could be implemented in the app. When viewing the balances or other overviews in the app (and on notifications) this alias would be used. This alias would be shown in the cards overview with the original description or name of the card, so users have a convenient way to check which card goes with which alias. The original name would only appear in the card overview, the rest of the app uses the alias to distinguish different cards.

Obviously the text on the physical card can't be changed after printing it, but who uses physical cards anyways?

By the way, you could always order a free new card once a year with a new description or name on it...

I understand the card name/description is permanent. I also understand for this reason you cannot change it afterwards.

There is a very easy solution though:

                        1. People that don’t like their current card description can order a new card to change it.

However, if you like an empty description on your card, the problem is the default ‘bunq card’ name because it’s the same for all types of cards.

I can see how building an entire ‘rename feature’ for people that have empty description cards is quite a waste of development effort though. And it’s creating complexity because you can then create mismatches between the name in the app and the description on your card.

There might be a minority of people that use empty description cards with multiple cards of the same type. They are already dealing with this problem with their physical cards so you can safely say they chose for this inconvenience themselves.

So there is a very simple solution for the default ‘bunq card’ distinguish problem:

                        1. For cards that have an empty description, change the default ‘bunq card’ name to the card type name:

-- maestro cards with empty description will be displayed as ‘Maestro’
-- mastercards with empty description will be called ‘Mastercard’
-- Apple Pay cards (which always have an empty description) will be called ‘Pay’

This is a very simple solution that takes little development effort and is an elegant solution to solve the actual problem: not being able to distinguish between references to your cards in the app.

Renaming of online cards is possible and works perfectly. So implementing a method to rename regular cards (or differentiate between „description“ and „name“) shouldn’t be too complex.

@Phil#70413 a subtle difference being that the name for online cards are not actually being printed on the cards that are being issued to the users.
