Hey bunqers 🌈
We always aim to keep the banking environment secure and free from fraudsters. In order to achieve that, we work with multiple governments and organizations, which ensure your banking security.
One of the steps we and also other banks take to keep you and your money secure is contributing to the EVR register.
What’s the EVR register?
EVR is the Dutch banking External Referral Register. In this register, all banks part of the PIFI are allowed to report and identify fraudulent persons. This means that once an individual is added to the register, they might have limited access to other banking or financial services in The Netherlands.

How do you get added to the EVR and what are the consequences?
If you ever get added to the EVR this means that it was identified that you and your account were involved in an incident of fraud and/or a specific case of not following our Terms & Conditions. If bunq makes a decision to add you to the Register, you will receive a notification and an email with the reasoning behind this action. Have in mind that such a conclusion is made after a thorough review and considerate factual evidence. Once added to the EVR, you might have limited access to other banking or financial services in the Netherlands.
We include the Reference Data of individuals or entities based on certain criteria:
If a person or company's actions pose, are posing, or could potentially pose a threat to the financial interests of a Financial Institution's clients or employees, the Financial Institution itself, or the integrity and smooth operation of the financial sector, they become a subject of our attention.
We need substantial evidence to confirm that the individual or entity in question is indeed involved in the aforementioned behaviors. Once we have solid proof, it indicates we're dealing with potentially serious issues.
Throughout this process, we adhere to the principle of proportionality. This means our actions are commensurate with the severity of the situation, ensuring fairness and balance.
What data is added?
The EVR only contains a person's name and date of birth, or a company’s owner and KvK number. This means that the register will not state publicly the reason why someone is registered. That information is only known to the security department of the financial institution that registered you.
There must be a mistake, I don’t recognize this fraud case! What should I do?
If you have any questions, believe that our information is incorrect or if you want to contest the registration of your details, please fill in our website complaint form here.
