"Hi bunqers 🌈
At bunq, we’re committed to maintaining a secure and fraud-free banking environment. To achieve this, we collaborate with governments and organizations to ensure your banking safety. One of the means to achieve this is by contributing to the EVR register.
What is the EVR register?
The EVR is the Dutch banking External Referral Register where all banks part of the PIFI (Platform for Incident Management Financial Institutions) can report and identify fraudulent persons. When someone is added to the register, they may face restrictions on accessing banking or financial services within The Netherlands.

Why would anyone be added to the EVR?
We'll consider adding someone's details to the register when:
- A person or a company poses, has posed, or could potentially pose a threat to the financial interests of clients, employees, or the financial institution itself.
- Their actions compromise the integrity or smooth operation of the financial sector.
- This decision is always proportional to the severity of the issue, ensuring fairness and balance.
What happens if you are added to the EVR?
If bunq determines that your account has been involved in fraud or a violation of our Terms & Conditions, you may be added to the EVR. Before taking this step, we thoroughly review all evidence and ensure the decision is based on substantial and factual information. If you are added to the register, you will receive a notification and an email explaining the reasoning behind our decision. Being listed in the EVR can result in limited access to financial services in the Netherlands.
What information is in the EVR?
The EVR only contains:
- For individuals: Name and date of birth.
- For businesses: Owner’s name and KvK number.
The register doesn't publicly disclose the reason for the registration. This information is only available to the security department of the reporting financial institution.
I want to contest the registration
