• Tap&Pay still bugs the hell out of me

I got to be honest.. T&P bugs the hell out of me to the point I stop using it. But today I gave it another try. But is still bugs me.


Since recent the app keeps asking me to authorize almost every payment before I can use T&P. Despite the amount, set limits or if the app is open. So there seems NO APPARENT reason for this extra security feature to pop up. In fact, I find it less secure because I have to enter my device code before I can continue. I don’t like to type any kind of code or password when I’m in a store.


With my first payment today the same thing happened. But in this case I entered the code and finish the T&P payment (while people are waiting).

Later that day the tried to do another T&P payment, same story. But this time I didn’t get the chance to authorize the damn thing. What happened? I held my phone landscape near the terminal. The authorization screen pop’s up. But when I lift up the phone to enter my code, the screen turns portrait again. At that point the screen below pop’s up (never shows anything) and the screen to authorize disappears in the background and doesn’t show anymore. So, I have to cancel the payment and gotta reach for me old fashion card.

So bunq, you can imaging I’m getting pretttttty annoyed with the instability of T&P

    If you have the app opened and logged in, it should definitely work for you!

    Can you drop by the support chat, in there we can have a look at what happened in those transactions. 👍

      Just to prevent issues I always have the app open before using T&P.. but still almost every time there is an issue.

        I Had the same ! Already told Francesc.


        1. Tap to Terminal

        2. Authorisation required (old version told.. DONE - OK in 2. and thats all. but new version seems buggy of hell ^^)

        -Terminal says "see Smartphone Display"

        3. Press Authorisate...

        4. Authorisate... (Fingerprint, Password etc...)

        5. Loading Loading... infinite...

        6. Press Back....

        7. Tap Again to Terminal

        8. DONE worked...

          Hmm, that's exactly what I do as well. Up until now, it has been working every time. We'll check your issue in the chat 🕵️

            Just talked to Frances... always a very helpful hand! He is going to report it to the dev guys/girls.

            Despite the T&P issues.. still a big bunq fan do ;)

              Yesterday my support friend Francesc informed me that issues with unwanted pop-ups should be solved in yesterdays release.

              Today I did 2 T&P payments... and I can confirm that no pop-ups appear. So big thumbs up for bunq.


              But (sorry).. the app still keeps asking me to confirm every payment. That means I still have to enter a code... every time! So dear BBF (bunq building friends), can you please solve this issue? Or change the name in Tap, Enter a Code & Pay :)

                I have these same issues on my Samsung S7. Also T&P is really slow

                  I used an S7 too... but now I have a Note8 but that didn't change a thing 🤔

                    You got me thinking... I never knew that you can use fingerprint in step 4. The interface didn't suggest you can, but tried it today and it works. The interface of this step is confusing because untill recently I didn't knew which code I had to enter.

                    But anyway, step 4 now alwaysss shows up 🤔😒

                      Same for me. Most of the times it doesn't work. I report it to support every time.

                        When do you need to authenticate a payment? Because this topic suggest there is no option to exceed the daily auto logout limit.

                          Zonet heb ik de nieuwe versie van de Rabo Wallet getest (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.rabowallet), welke nu zonder speciale "NFC-Sim" werkt (dus op alle Android 5.0+ toestellen met NFC).

                          Mijn eerste ervaring is zeer positief. Deze app werkt ook zonder het device te unlocken, dus je hoeft alleen het scherm aan te zetten voor een contactloze betaling. En hij geeft een duidelijk bevestigingsscherm met grote groene vink en het betaalde gedrag.


                          En het werkte direct de eerste keer, maar misschien was dat toeval 😉

                          Mogelijk kan bunq kijken naar deze "gebruikerservaring" 😀

                            Vergelijkbaar met hoe het bij ING werkt. Mij maakt het niet heel uit hoe het exact werkt, als het maar werkt (100%). Nu is het altijd bij betalen een spannend moment of het gaat lukken. Maar goed, sinds de laatste update is het wel verbeterd.

                            Geduld is schone zaak zei mijn oma altijd.

                              For me it would be great if my Gear S3 would be supportet... or maybe used as 2. factor.. because if i wear my Watch its connectet with phone and so its a second security tool (and the watch is also secured by PIN. Locked if i remove it from wrist)

                                Don't know if it got something to do with yesterday's update... but today T&P worked flawless for the first time since weeks. Nice! Hopefully it stays this way

                                  I don't get promoted for new updates, so I want aware. I updated now, and will check out this solves NFC payments for me.


                                  The bunq app should really prompt to update when there is a later version (for a thousand obvious reasons)

                                    @Imrö Stimmt es wirklich wenn ich mich nach einen Einkauf über 90€ auslogge und nach den erneuten Login noch einmal für 90€ am selben Tag einkaufen kann? Das wäre wirklich super.
