Whoops, my bad!

The problem with Google Contacts for instance is that it lists all my 10000+ customers (who are consumers, not businesses) who have ever emailed us. It gets kinda messy. Also every staff member here has their own @company email address, thus a different addressbook right? (We use Gsuite internally)

Also I don't see how a IBAN is connected to a Google contact. I'm not quite sure what the solution is when you don't want to you external servers (understandable), but I think manually entering an IBAN every time we do a transfer will not be appreciated by our staff. I'm willing to help you testing if you know any solution!

Can’t you create a generic google account for the purpose? bunqcontacts@yourcompany.com and have all employees use that to access the newly created addressbook?

Alex Well one thing to keep in mind is that bunq doesn't allow for sending payments to a non-bunq user by phone/email using the API. So I don't think that is a great solution for a lot of business use cases.

Currently when you start a new payment it will check the last 250 payments and then lets you search through those with autocomplete. I could increase that size a bit or allow users to upload a csv file with name and IBAN as the only columns to search through.

Gregory Goijaerts That is possible, we could store our contacts in Google Sheets for instance, and when Bunq contacts needs to be updated we do a CSV export from Google Sheets. Acceptable solution for now! Thanks for considering

What an amazing app... a really good job.
I take screenshots of payments but they are not appearing in the app... Is that something that will be taken care of ? I use this feature allot of times..

D. Greebe Does it fix itself when you restart the application? And is the update queue running when you start the app? It is the refresh icon at the top left of the screen, you can hit it yourself as well to update all the events for your accounts.

If that doesn't fix it let me know since it is likely a bug if that doesn't work. As a workaround you can try to go to the settings and hit the "Reset all event data" button at the bottom of the settings page.

D. Greebe Ah hold on I might have misunderstood you now that I read the "screenshots" part again.

Do you that mean that payments are not showing in the bunqDesktop application. Or do you mean that the images/texts that you can add to a payment in the official bunq app are not showing?

Because displaying those images isn't possible using the bunq API right now due to a bug

D. Greebe Alright yeah like I said those can't be shown right now because of how the API is setup.

A more technical explanation for anyone who is curious:

The texts can't be shown because I need to know a specific type before I can get the correct endpoint and then fetch the texts for a specific payment. But in order to get that type I need access to the/user{userId}/event endpoint which isn't possible because it is missing important events.
The images can't be shown because of a bug where there public_uuid value (which is used to show the profile picture for example) isn't available in the note-attachment object that we get thus it can't be shown. Andddd I run into the same issue as with the note-text endpoint that I don't have access to the correct type

So unless bunq fixes those things there isn't much I can do right now :/

Hi Gregory, when creating a payment I get this error

"The description text of a payment to a non-bunqer cannot contain special characters or emojis."

I don't think I used any special characters except a ":" or a "-", but the main problem is that the entire payment just disappears after that error. And I have to enter everything again. Can you maybe make some validation before I submit the payment?

Nevil That does sound odd, I don't remember characters like that being blocked by bunq so I'll look into this

Gregory Goijaerts The error is not really the big problem by the way, it's more that you get the error after submitting payment, and that you have to re-enter everything again.

Gregory Goijaerts Nevil I think the bunq app blocks on : which is odd because the same character can appear in direct debit descriptions. I've send payments with a - before so that should work.

Say Gregory, Can you please make the IP-check for logging in - as a setting, instead of obligatory? In Germany, IP's change daily. It is really annoying to scan my hand every day.

Rembrandt The IP check is done by bunq so not much I can do against that. The current login screen has a option to enable wildcard mode using just the API but that has been changed so it likely no longer works.

What you can do is go to the bunq app and check the settings page at Security & Settings > Developers > API Keys. There you can select the API key you are currently use for bunqDesktop and enable the wildcard mode to disable the IP check.

Rembrandt you can configure you API key as "Wildcard" from the bunq app. That will allow any IP to access your bunq account through the API, from any IP. This also reduces security somewhat, but as far as I can see it will solve your issue. 🙂
