Hi, welcome :) I've been using Bunq's creditcards for a couple years now, so I'll do my best to give my thoughts about the points you've raised:
Purchase insurance:
I think there's no purchase insurance for the regular creditcards at least. I've never really had to deal with situations like theft etc. and personally, due to the consumer laws here regarding those kind of situations, I never really thought insurance was particularly needed. But the Metal Card does have purchase insurance, if I'm not mistaken.
Unauthorized transactions:
Within the bunq app, you can set up several safety measures for your card as precaution:
- Transaction limit (for example: max. €200 per day or whatever amount you prefer)
- Rotating CVC (every 5 minutes, your CVC changes)
- Authentication is required for each transaction
Every transaction also requires your personal authorization, so you'll get a notification from the app whenever a transaction is made. Then you open the app and can either authorize (or deny, if it's not made by you). Lastly, I believe you can also flag a transaction in the Support Center inside the app, should it come to that.
Car rentals:
Haven't rented a car using a bunq creditcard, but did book a hotel abroad using one. I believe it's fairly similar with a deposit of some sort? Didn't have any issues with a hotel booking at least.
Usage abroad:
I didn't have any issues using the creditcard abroad.
All in all, I think when it comes to value for money, the bunq creditcard is hard to beat, for me personally. The new virtual one is free as well, so it's perfect for people who don't want to pay a monthly/yearly fee and don't need/want to buy things on credit.
Hope this helps a little bit.
