  • Local IBAN for countries outside NL

a month later

@DaveFlash#45967 I want to +1 this request. It is impractical to impossible to use BUNQ as main account in Germany because many organizations big and small can not accept foreign IBAN especially Dutch iban as they are shorter and many systems see these as invalid.

@Paolo-Pink-Panda#53108 I cannot confirm this as I’m using bunq as my main account (in Germany) for about one year now. I see there are some companies that cause trouble, but every case (for me) could be solved with a few emails so far.

@Paolo-Pink-Panda#53108 I love having NL IBANs. They are shorter than German IBANs and way easier to remember. And personally I’ve never had any problems with my NL IBAN so far in Germany. 🥳

I guess it depends a lot on lifestyle I currently have 30+ services that debit directly to my account and I quite actively manage them so they often require changes. so far none was able to just accept the NL iban and is insane for me to consider having an ad hoc conversation for each one. This is not banking of the free. TransferWise offers local IBAN and that makes things so amazingly smooth.

@DaveFlash#45967 It would be so awesome if bunq was the first bank to start using EUxxxxx IBANs!

I also use bunq as my main account in Germany. Yes, some companies needed a little “work” from my side but I got it all settled. My wife is using bunq too as her main account and we really love and enjoy all the possibilities of shared accounts and cards etc. So everything well worth the little extra hustle with one or two “black sheep” not accepting a “foreign” IBAN and definitely not correct to say “it’s not possible to use bunq as your main account in Germany”.

2021 IBANDiscrimination is still a thing. Not only do big companies enforce local IBAN only, also small Fastfood Shops or local restaurants do not accept bunq Maestrocards because "foreign cards/bankaccounts are not activated in our Cardreader terminal". - I love bunq for my private banking, but i still need a second bank with DE Iban, just to NOT run into trouble.. - I also wantedto open a Businessaccount with bunq, but starting a new business in Germany with a NL Iban, actually is not the best idea. so please. IF possible.. partner up with any german Bank, just to be able to brovide DE Ibans. (do not change anythin else :) <3

@Petervdv#53120 EUxxx IBAN are a nice idea, but in Germany the diference to a NL iban would be NONE.. "if its not DE, it does not work"
