• Bunq announces in update notes that new security features are coming

Very interesting tidbit of news that maybe has flown under the radar a little bit. I updated the Bunq app today and saw in the update notes that Bunq is planning to introduce new security features, with more information coming soon.

With the controversies in the news and precedence based on past Kifid rulings, this doesn't really come as a surprise. Better late than never I suppose.

Here's hoping the new security features are robust, effective and on the same level as the industry standard. Because that's in Bunq's and its customers' best interests.

      "Based on feedback from our users, we're introducing a new feature to make banking with bunq even more secure: Delayed Payments.

      Whenever you send a payment that's out of the ordinary, we'll automatically put it on hold for you for 24 hours. This allows you to manually cancel these payments, giving you an extra layer of security that helps keep your money safe."

            My transfer to my brokerage acccount was just flagged as suspicious. Tried to transfer money to my other bank account, got flagged as suspicious.
            bunq is now unusable.
            At least make the feature optional but for me this is the reason to leave bunq for good.

                  "Verschillende veiligheidssystemen werken samen om te bepalen of een betaling uitgesteld moet worden. Sommige systemen zijn gebaseerd op simpele regels: bijvoorbeeld als je je limiet verhoogt, worden betalingen die boven je oude limiet vallen alsnog uitgesteld. Maar ook als je voor het eerst op een nieuw apparaat inlogt, of als je voor het eerst een betaling doet naar een nieuwe tegenrekening. Bovendien kijkt ons AI systeem mee om je zo veilig mogelijk te houden."

Maar zoals ik het begrijp, zijn er dus verschillende systemen die kijken of een betaling uitgesteld moet worden of niet. Maar dit is alleen in bepaalde gevallen, de meeste betalingen zullen niet uitgesteld worden.

                                IMHO Bunq should restrict the savings account to allow only one single other account to transfer money to and from ('tegenrekening') exactly like other banks do. For savings it is no problem at all to sacrifice some ease-of-use for more security. It would be a simple solution and more is not really needed.

                                    For example, I would be in favor of a transfer limit that can only be raised with a 12/24 hour delay, or a 24 hour delay on transfers from savings accounts.
                                    But users should be able to decide for themselves whether they want to use them or not/set their own delay.
