• Creating a joint account from a single account

Hello!
Question: currently I have a Bunq premium account, with a Maestro bankcard, and Apple Pay is up and running. Plan is to change this account to a joint account so my girlfriend is having access to this account as well. Ofcourse I can connect the account to her and she is able to see the things I see but has no bankcard.

I could also make a joint account and invite her. Then we have together a new Bunq account with another Bunq account number. So far so good but this does mean that I also need to order a new bankcard for this account number as well, right? And that Apple Pay should be activated as well on that card.

Could somebody confirm my assumptions?

    @Paulus-Blue-Frog#47535 Hi Paul,

    You both need to register an user account (which you use for logging in). Within these user accounts you can create bank accounts. These are either personal or shared. You cant change it afterwards. Now, a very cool feature at bunq is that your cards can be used for any of your bank accounts. Normally a card is tied to a fixed IBAN. But in the bunq app you can change this to any account. So you do not need to order new cards.

    So the best in your situation I think would be to get your girlfriend to sign up for bunq (free/premium/whatever she likes). Then create a joint bank account in your user account, and link your existing card to it in the cards tab. When your card is Apple Pay enabled you can change the connected bank account the same way. Changing the bank account for the physical card also changes it for Apple Pay. 🙂 Hope this clarifies. 😁🙂

      @Sander#47536 hi Sander, many thanks for your quick and clear reply :)

      For me it's clear now. My girlfriend can than order a bankcard for the joint account too? Then everything should be fine.

        @Paulus-Blue-Frog#47538 When she is on the Premium plan she can! The free account does not have the cards. But she can order her own set of cards as part of Premium. These then can be linked to any bank account she has access to, including any joint bank account you share with her. 😁
