• How do I add an IBAN to my 'contact list' without adding it as a favourite?

I agree, people should adapt to new workflows, features and functionalities if it benefits the actual use. For instance, Bunq is moving to a more modern way of banking, compared to the traditional one. For example, you can send your money to a phone number or E-mail.

My problem with that is the actual interactive experience. As the sender, it's very convenient, as I don't have to remember or write the long IBAN. For the recipient, however, he has to click a link in the E-mail/SMS and perform some actions to collect the money (assuming he has no Bunq). If I had sent the payment to his/her IBAN, he/she has no actions to perform and the money would be transferred, as well.

And this -could- be a problem for Marktplaats users (for example) in The Netherlands, as the traditional way is still a manual bank transaction to an IBAN, even though iDEAL would be faster and/or more convenient.

Still I wonder: Where is the option to add a persons IBAN, without adding them as a favourite? Since the favourite tab is the only place you are free to do whatever you want.

    Hey Sander,

    Thanks for the compliment 😄

Yes, sometimes you still need to pay to somebody's IBAN. That's why we made the favourites in the app, so you can always let the app remember a person's IBAN.

I can see why you wouldn't want hundreds of people in there. But since we use your phone's contact list that would need contact lists to add IBAN's (kind of a nice idea 🤔)

For now, favourites are the way to go.

But in your months of redesigning, did this problem never occur? Or either the question "Is 'favourites' the best name for the tab?". Naming of a page is less relevant, but the overal structure is off and that little bit annoys me.

if only it was possible (for iOS) to edit a contact and add IBAN numbers, instead of address, E-mail and phone numbers. :)

Aside of this, adding an IBAN, instead of an actual contact, removes the photo of the contact (in case that is linked on your device). A solution to this could be linking manual entered IBAN's to contacts on your device.

For example to the above, I want to add my father to the favourites list and don't want him to have each payment be manually obtained, I enter his IBAN. Now, since it's a RABO account, It shows an avatar of the Rabobank. If I could link that favourite to an actual contact, not only would that show his photo, but I think this could be integrated/adapted to something much larger/Bunq-wide.

if only it was possible (for iOS) to edit a contact and add IBAN numbers, instead of address, E-mail and phone numbers. 🙂You can, sort of. When editing a contact you can add a Social profile and then when choosing service scroll all the way down where you can add a custom service. Enter IBAN en fill in the contact's IBAN number.

Perhaps the bunq app can then filter on the IBAN field? (@Koen)
