@OlivierV#125989 Do you need to select a bank in a bank list? Here in the Netherlands it works with a direct debit. Is that also the case in Belgium? If you can't use a Dutch bunq IBAN for a direct debit, it sounds like IBAN discrimination to me. If that's the case, you should contact Payconic about this.

I just got an answer from Payconiq support that states : "Bunq is currently only available for Dutch customers, as this is a Dutch bank and this decision was made by Payconiq."

Sounds like discrimination to me.

@OlivierV#126084 this is total horsecrap, bunq is a fully licensed bank in the EU and also a full bank for the Belgium market, which means any company must treat bunq as it were a 'local bank'. As a side note, this applies to Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Ireland And perhaps Portugal, I believe bunq recently added that country to. next to that of course, bunq is still open to any resident in any other EEA country.

So you should be able to pay with the payconic/bancontact app from the Belgian app store if that's you're preference if you want to pay with qr codes.. This app should not refuse to setup with bunq ibans if the combination is Belgian user with belgium adres and bunq bank account. Also, I do hope at some point bunq will offer Bancontact for online like they do ideal in the netherlands and sofort/klarna uberweisung for the rest of europe.

Payconiq ondersteunt Bunq inderdaad niet in België. Dit antwoord kreeg ik vandaag van hun :

"Bedankt voor uw interesse in Payconiq.Het is op dit moment voor ons Belgische gebruikers niet mogelijk een Payconiq account aan te maken met een BUNQ rekening.Het is wel mogelijk Payconiq te gebruiken als u zich aanmeldt met een andere Belgische bank.Bedankt voor het begrip."

En hoewel Bunq beweert een volwaardige Belgische bank te zijn, is dat toch iets te optimistisch. Heel wat zaken die in België gangbaar zijn, worden door Bunq niet ondersteunt. Dat is de reden waarom de rest van de familie hier niet wil overstappen. Ikzelf heb helaas ook wel het gevoel dat Belgische gebruikers door Bunq niet altijd als volwaardig worden aanzien. Het is leuk dat ze erbij zijn, maar veel aanstalten om ze dezelfde mogelijkheden te geven als bv. de Nederlandse klanten wordt helaas niet gemaakt heb ik de indruk.

I am using Bunq in Belgium for 5 months now. Never experienced any problems regarding acceptance of the card. Most shops are accepting Maestro too. Never saw a merchant only accepting Bancontact.

Good news is that the bunq maestro card worked in a Colruyt shop, this against what they mention on their website, and against what they told me by email :D Seems they don't know what works in their own shops.

Ik woon nu een paar maanden in België en heb eigenlijk overal kunnen betalen met mijn Bunq Maestro. Wel kom ik het tegen dat direct debits (domiciliëringen) vanuit een aantal bedrijven niet plaatsvinden. Bij Proximus onder andere kunnen ze mijn rekeningnummer niet verifiëren voor een direct debit.

Ook een Payconic request van mijn Belgische collega's kan ik niet met de Bunq app betalen en moet daarvoor dus (helaas) de Payconic app voor gebruiken. Zelf requests uitsturen was ook nog wel lastig, omdat op de bunq request pagina vooral groot IDeal staat. Na een beetje uitleg dat onderaan nog in het klein Sofort staat, is het voor een aantal Belgische collega's toch mogelijk de request te betalen.

So there never will be a possibility to pay a Payconic request with Bunq?

@OlivierV#125987 Ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat ik, als Nederlander, al ongeveer een jaar met bunq betaal in België. Er is eigenlijk maar één plek waar echt alleen bancontact wordt geaccepteerd en dat was bij het bedrijfsrestaurant van het bedrijf waar ik zit.

Wel moet je in (de meeste) winkels vaak aangeven dat je met 'credit-card' wilt betalen, want in België wordt blijkbaar zowel maestro als mastercard (debit) kaarten onder de noemer 'credit cards' geschaard. Standaard zal een winkelier de 'bancontact' methode (willen) gebruiken en dat werkt dus vaak niet.

Geen idee of dat bij Colruyt ook werkt, maar aangezien ze Apple Pay ondersteunen (en dat zeer zeker niet werkt met bancontact) zal dat wel loslopen.

Overigens moeten ze in België echt eens ophouden met bancontact, maar gewoon overstappen op de Europees ondersteunde varianten van mastercard en visa. Zelfde geldt voor Duitsland (met hun girocard of hoe heet dat ding). Zodra ook België overstapt (wat ze volgens mij ergens in 2012 al zouden doen) is het probleem ook gelijk weg.
