First of all I’ll start with a positive note: the app works pretty well (except for Together) and it’s very easy to use. Well done to Bunq and let’s hope it’s even better in 2019! I’m also happy to see Apple Pay expanded to more countries. Let’s hope the Netherlands is next!
Then on a less positive note, the wish:
If there is one thing I could wish for, then it is for Bunq to either lower the prices to reasonable levels or actually deliver a Premium service. :) As it standa, Bunq is much more expensive AND a lot more limited. I had expected it was more expensive due to better functionality and more freedom, but the opposite is true.
The top annoyances:
- No clarity on joint accounts combined with PROMO’s, support said they’d look in to it but I never heard back from them. A kind fellow Bunq customer ran some tests for me for which I am very grateful, but I want it confirmed.
- A fee of €8 extra per month on top of the high €8/month you’re already paying, if all you want is a card for your husband/wife to go with the joint account you setup. €8/month just to get a card... Come on. Let it take up one of your Premium card slots or charge €2 extra if its a fourth card - but €8 forceful upgrade to Premium so you technically pay €16/month for a simple joint account? Way expensive.
- No way to deposit cash to a Bunq account without extremely high fees
- Together is complete and utter chaos with the flags, title alterations, no dedicated boards, etc.
- The business package is up to four times as expensive as competitors for ZZP clients that do < 1000 transactions/year. (And no cash deposits.)
- If you want to pay a little less than the regular ultra high banking fee, you have to create/join a pack that involves all kinds of risks (and sacrificing some privacy) for both owner as pack member. Just get rid of Pack, lower the fee for Unlimited from €8 to €5 and business accounts from €10 to €7,50/month and call it a day! No more Pack hassles and Bunq will be more attractive to new signups as well.
- There is no way to export a list of transactions you generated using a filter. This would be nice in order to see what exactly you spent at, for example, the grocery store.
If out of that s-list I have to pick ONE single wish, then I’m undecided between letting Bunq lower the prices and the Joint-card problem. :) At least getting rid of Pack and make it €5 by default would already be a major improvement and make it easier to get others to join!
I hope something is done with this feedback (usually when you have some critique you get shunned or told to be quiet) and that Bunq will evolve to an actually reasonable and fully functional useful bank in 2019! :)
Thanks in advance for your consideration and I’d like to wish Ali and everbody at Bunq, including my fellow Bunq customers a very happy and healthy 2019! :D
