  • Phone number in personal profile

Hi Bunqers!

I have a personal and business account 💪. It turns out that it is not possible to use my phone number on both accounts 🙄. This lead to the following question.

👉 What is the benefit of adding your phone number to your profile? 🤔

    @Guido-Violet-Shark#55916 Hi 👋🏼 Guido,

Phone numbers are used in two ways:
    1) You need a phone number so bunq can communicate with you. For instance to send a code if you want to reset your App code.

    2) Other bunqers can find you by using that phone number without the need to know your Iban. You can even assign different phone numbers of email addresses to a single bank account.

    Hope this helps!

    Have a great Sunday 👍

People can use your phone numbers to sen you money. Because of this, it only can be used for one account. Because otherwise bunq would not know wich account to send the money to :)

@JohnDo#55919 Thanks John. But I only have one phone number. For what account should I use it? Personal or business?
Why is it not possible to use it for both accounts?

@reckter#55921 Thank you Hannes. It Makes sense indeed but still it feels a bit strange. I can imagine many more people have this problem. Especially people with self employed businesses.

I am in the same situation. Personal and Business account. One phone number.
I added my private email and my phone number to my Private account and my business email to my Business account.

Same for me ... self employed and only 1 phone number. It would be great to have a solution here :)

@De-Kegel-B-V-Golden-Panther#62056 I have both a premium and a free account. For the free account I used a prepaid number to register. However, on my main phone I just added the free account as an extra in the bunq app.
I can simply and quickly switch between the two bunq accounts. The prepaid number is only necessary when I can’t access the free account or when a specific code is sent to it.
Up until now, these two instances never happened so it works like a charm for me.

I used my business' landline number for the business account ;)

I would imagine you could also use your Satellite number (https://www.satellite.me/) for one of the accounts (at least on iPhone), but I'm not quite sure if you are able to receive an SMS there

                      Hi Bunqers,
I have the same problem now too. Only one telephone number which cannot be used for both private and business. How can I finish off opening my business account if I do not have another phone?

@New-Emerald-Leopard-1413104037#259536 Hey Lesley, did you get it sorted?

I just wanted to reach out (as a community member) for you or others who might stumble onto the same problem.
As long as bunq doesn't change how your account is identified or allows you to skip the phone-number and allows you to register with business e-mail only, I am afraid you will have to get an additional phone number.

I wanted to provide you with some options:
Your phone might have eSIM or Dual-Sim slot. In the Netherlands you can get a prepaid eSIM number online in 15 minutes if not quicker.
If you need a physical Simcard, in the Netherlands that could take a business day per mail, or - though I am unsure if this is really wise - you walk in various supermarkets who sometimes sell prepaid sim cards.

Or you can register a 085 voip number as 'landline' and use that as phone-number to register.
You can buy a such a number for 8,95 per year and calling works via voip-apps.

(Heads up, these are referral links)
                        eSIM:
https://rebrand.ly/tip-esim (includes a discount I believe; switch to tab prepaid after landing if desired, select esim in the form.)
                        Voip:
                        https://rebrand.ly/tip-voip

(To mod: If referrals are not allowed, I apologise, you may simply remove the complete last paragraph.)
