• 🇩🇪 Why is there no balance next to transactions?

Tim changed the title to 🇩🇪 Why is there no balance next to transactions?.

@BBiker#56268 In The Netherlands this is not a common thing. I'm not sure there are even banks who have this. I see it requested a lot though.

I guess Dutch banks ar afraid people will think their entire balance was transferred.

@BBiker#56300 Printed statements also didn't show this (and look like the statement of bunq looks like). There was just a line with the account, description and then the amount. Usually with a D or C for Debit and Credit. On top of the statement it said "old balance: 1234, new balance 1432" or whatever.

I guess the banks just "rebuild" the paper statement more or less even though nowadays it usally is + and - numbers instead of C or D.

But even then sometimes the app gives even less information than the old statements. For example I find it really odd that an event overview gives very few facts about the actual event and you have to click on them to see more. In the main screen of bunq (but also other apps) there is lot of space dedicated to telling wether it was a transfer or a card transaction (which I rarely care about and usually is already indicated with an icon anyway) but for things like the description of the transfer (something that is actually more interesting to know) you need to select all the events 1 by 1.

@JeroenE#56303 I know, I'm premium bunqer since over an year.

I like the view of other prints wich shows date, reason, amount, balance... In a line. Bunq is missing the balance... Even in app.

But even some old German banks has not this service. But most new ones I know.

Others like N26 and Revolut shows a time line balance while the customer is scrolling through the date and sees on the top the actual balance within the chosen date, also nice for in app.

But on print or excel, an extra field for balance is not so much work and a nice future for a better UX.

So if really other NL Banks also don't have this, it will be an explanation. But should not be a reason for bunq not to add this in the next bigger update, normally.

@BBiker#56309 I don;t know any banks who have, but fortunately I'm not a customer at all these banks. So that might have changed. I think there is one where you can create a balance timeline chart where you can see your balance on every day of the last two months ore something like that.

I agree that just because nobody else has it, it doesn't mean bunq can't create it. I don't know any other bank with a secondary pin either, but bunq has that!

@BBiker#56309 I don't really miss the balance shown on each transaction on the printout; I find it quite sufficient with the starting and end balance unless it is a long statement; that said, the feature where you see an updated past balance on the account while scrolling through transactions as N26 has is VERY useful sometimes and I think much more user friendly than cluttering the bank statements with more numbers. I wouldn't mind though to provide more information on the data exports.

What is quite a nice feature that Comdirect's app has (and it doesn't have many) is that it allows to swipe through the detail screens of transactions chronologically. That is nice for reviewing transactions as well and saves you from tapping twice per transaction to look at the details... I think that would resolve one of your UX gripes described above quite nicely.
