• Notifications?

Hi,

I don’t seem to be getting payment notifications for all accounts anymore. There a problem with it?

Only transactions I make with my phone (though this is the wallet app notifying, not the Bunq app) and push for direct debit seem to trigger a notification, anything else doesn’t seem to get a push from Bunq that a payment was made?

@LH-Black-Wolf#61999 In all seriousness though, please try turning them off and on and tell us if the problem is not resolved. We'll look into it if the problem continues to happen after that 😊

@sailingdeveloper#62070 Actually did by accident :P Turned out the push settings are synced accross devices, so I had accidentally reset them yesterday. That didn’t solve it.

I’ll try something else shortly and let you know.

@sailingdeveloper#62070 A direct debit didn't sent me any push notification today, yesterday the notifications worked..

@johannes#62093 You had a new direct debit in Sunday?!

I got notifications of payments just fine. No direct debit today, so I don't know about that.

@JeroenE#62171 I got a direct debit today, on Monday, didn't work.
On Sunday I got a card payment, the notification worked.

@johannes#62172 Aha, I see. You didn't specify so I assumed you were talking about direct debits for both days. My direct debit notifications worked perfectly on the friday (February 1st). It will probably be a few weeks before another one comes in.

@sailingdeveloper#62070 Ok, so the problem originates from Apple Pay payments by the looks of it. Before, whenever a transaction was made, Bunq would send me a push notification. It no longer does on any device.

The only notification I get is from Wallet on the device that originates the payment, but not on any other device. So if I pay with Watch: the Wallet on Watch will show a transaction, iPhone doesn’t show anything - no push message. If I make a payment on iPhone, it shows in wallet there but no push from Bunq. This goes for any device, my iPad for example doesn’t get a push notification either from Watch nor iPhone AP transactions.

When paying with a joint account, the other party does get a notification. I haven’t been able to test if I do get a notification of their transactions if they pay instead of me.

I do seem to still be getting Together notifications (will confirm upon next mention) and a few days ago I still got notifications for direct debits but haven’t got one since so can’t test if I have the same problem there as Johannes describes.

I hardly ever use the physical card (I have done so only once since I am with Bunq, lol) so can’t say if I do get notifications for that.

@LH-Black-Wolf#62277 Perhaps you could perhaps try to do one physical card payment? I know I get notifications, but I'm on Android.

@JeroenE#62278 Can confirm Together push notifications still work :P

Yeah I can try that next time to be sure it’s only AP transactions or if card transactions suffer from the same problem as well. :)

                      @LH-Black-Wolf#62279

Afaik Apple Pay payments are muted by the bunq app as the Wallet app takes over the notification. Otherwise it would result in a double notification. Don't really see anything strange here. As the Wallet is local to your device it won't show up in other devices as a notification.

@Tim#62281 Oh, when was that changed? It used to work with a push from Bunq :) Especially when paying from another device, such as the Watch.

I understand double notifications would be annoying, but it now leads to no notification at all when paying from another device. I’d rather disable the notification from the Wallet-app on the local device to stop double notitications, and get a push from Bunq instead. (Or just deal with double notifications, redundancy is not bad since they instantly push the notification at the same time anyway)

This is how it used to work, when I paid from Apple Watch: Bunq app would send a notification to my iPhone. I liked that a lot.

@LH-Black-Wolf#62282 I'm not really sure if anything changed. The notifications of the Wallet app are very unpredictable, always been for me, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But now you mentioned it, when paying with Apple Watch and or connected iPhone I sometimes get a notification on the connected device, but not in my iPad for example.

@Tim#62283 The settings in Wallet are per device. Settings for bunq will appear on both phone and watch (and iPad when you have installed the app there).

@LH-Black-Wolf @Tim Apple Pay notifications are sent by Apple. When you do a card payment we check if it is paid with Apple Pay and if so, we don't send a notification, as Apple will do that. You're right about those notifications being unpredictable, we've had this experience ourselves as well.

@sailingdeveloper#62290 The notitications from Wallet are very predictible for me, that always works. Just not in between devices as Wallet are exclusively local transactions :P Watch shows Watch transactions, iPhone shows iPhone transactions - but they don’t show eachothers transactions. Which makes perfect sense due to the (security) setup.

It’s strange, because I did use to get a push notification from Bunq for AP payments on another device afaik. (And it still does if a joint account holder pays with Apple Pay, so it only surpresses your own AP payments apparently.)

Then maybe instead of a bug consider this a feature request: add the ability to get notifications from the Bunq app for Apple Pay transactions. Make it a toggle? :) I’d really want Bunq to treat it as a card payment and thus send me a push notification, even if that means getting a double notification on iPhone (which can be solved by telling wallet not to generate a notification). That way, all devices get a push notification for each payment, rather than only the device that initiates the transaction. :)
And people who don’t want it or like the way it is: simple, they leave the toggle off. :P

@sailingdeveloper#62290 Can’t edit posts in the app growl, I didn’t mean all devices get a push - only the devices that have the Bunq app installed. In my case, that would mean if I pay from Watch: iPhone and iPad have the Bunq app and get a notification just like when I pay with the physical card. If I pay from iPhone, iPhone and iPad will get a push notification. The Watch doesn’t itself as that simply mimics the iPhone notifications.
