• At how many banks are you a customer?

I hear that several people use bunq as their backup bank or side bank. My question is at how many banks are you a customer and why?

I have 3 banks and 1 company for the mastercard.
- Rabobank (This is my main bank, because of the saving (savings interest) possibilities and I'm still looking where to take my money if I would quit Rabobank.
- Revolut (This was a test to see if I liked it)
- bunq ๐ŸŒˆ (Same as revolut, but I like Bunq better, because you can use all the multiple bank accounts for budgetting).

For the mastercard I use:
- Curve (Take all my Master-/Visa cards with me by only using this one card).

But Revolut, Bunq and Curve is still in the testing phase for me. I'm also thinking of trying N26 and Moneyou, but at one point I think too many bank accounts isn't a good thing ๐Ÿ˜œ

OK, here is my list (also described in this post: https://together.bunq.com/d/5924-is-bunq-using-schufa-scoring-or-alike-or-is-a-schufa-record-updated-by-bunq/9 ):

    • ING (Germany), main account for salary and all payments at the moment) + VISA credit (Apple Pay coming 2019)
    • comdirect, + VISA credit (Apple Pay registered)
    • Fidor, + Mastercard / Maestro (Apple Pay registered)
    • N26, + Mastercard (Apple Pay registered)
    • Postbank, + VISA credit
    • Berliner Sparkasse
    • DKB, VISA credit (Apple Pay coming 2019)
    • Wรผstenrot direct, VISA credit
    • bunq (which will make me stop with other banks, except ING, very soon)

Companies for cards in addition to the above mentioned cards, issued by the banks:

    • Barclaycard, Barclaycard New Visa
    • American Express, Green and Payback (Apple Pay registered)
    • Hanseatic Bank GenialCard (Apple Pay registered)
    • Hanseatic Bank GoldCard (Apple Pay registered)
    • Landesbank Berlin (= Sparkasse), Amazon Prima VISA credit
    • gebuhrenfrei.com (Advanzia Bank)

@Jos-Golden-Unicorn#64072 I have bunq as side bank

      -SNS is my main bank
Just because the possibilities (and free cash deposit at GWK and iDin support.
-Knab for the intereset (however I am closing this one)
      -N26 for my holiday expenses
-bunq just for the fun ๐Ÿ˜… and the features

However, if bunq come with good options to become an full bank alternative, then I would make it my main bank and N26 for holidays

The best option would be Bunq Black with an travel insurance and purchase protection on the Maestro and Mastercard, and no FX rates. ๐Ÿ˜

@YTL#64081 Interesting and fun to see that other people are also using bunq for the fun. I do think they have alot of fun options, but I agree that they need some good options to become a full bank alternative.

@Heiko-Hartwig#64079 That's alot of accounts and cards xD

          Main
bunq as the main bank account, this is the only way to understand and take advantage of their full range of features. ๐ŸŒˆ

          Backup
          Rabobank (mostly for the Creditcard)
ABN Amro (mostly for the event of Cash Deposits/iDIN)

          Savings
          ASN Bank

          Test banks
          Revolut, Moneyou
To be honest I barely even use these services. I should actually cancel these. ๐Ÿ‘€

I have multiple banks and where bunq started out as my side-bank it has now the main role.

            Incoming money
ING, still setup with my student loans and for the credit card

            Savings
            Triodos

Main: Shared accounts, all my recurring payments, bills, groceries(basically everything that goes out
            bunq

              • bunq as main bank

              • ING Luxembourg as bank for receiving salary (SWIFT payment)

              • bigbank for savings

              • American Express as โ€œcreditcardโ€ for work related expenses en when bunq Mastercard doesnโ€™t work.

In the process of moving all banking stuff from Rabobank to bunq... Still looking for an alternative for my savings. Might take it to an online investment bank. Please let me know if anyone has suggestions :)

Just bunq, and a creditcard at ICS.

                    @pbruins84#64096 Does that work?

Like receiving international payments is not possible (only via TW) as far as I know.

And you don t have iDin support which can have some issues sometimes.

I was impressed how poorly the banks are doing their economic activity in regard of a responsible future and sustainability: https://fairfinanceguide.org - an analysis of banking investment.

                      That's why I'm with
                      Triodos = basic account
                      bunq = everyday account

                      Barely used:
                      comdirect (German special) = backup
American Express = credit card with travel insurance

                      terminated:
DKB - bad service (there is absolutely zero service)
                      ING - lack of sustainability
Barclay - not my company philosophy
                      Kreissparkasse - many reasons

@YTL#64098 I never needed iDin, and I never needed to receive international payments. I got a refund once, from a webshop from another country, but this was done using PayPal.

4 different banks in NL. Or 5 if you count PayPal.

Why? Bunq is indeed a side thing, primarily for Apple Pay and some extra features I use. My money is still stored elsewhere and not at bunq due to some security and usability concerns (which is somewhat ironic because for some purposes bunq is much more secure.). Then one account that Iโ€™m forced to have for insurance that virtually only stores enough to pay the fees every month. Then a business account, bunq is not attractive enough for that. And PayPal because it is needed online, both personal as business.

                            @Jos-Golden-Unicorn#64072
                            I'm using the following banks/cards
                            - Sparkasse, Main account for salary
                            - bunq, spending account, trying to figure out if it could replace YNAB for budgeting; also used for Apple Pay
                            - DKB, used as spending account, VISA credit card
                            - Tomorrow Bank, German sustainable bank account, Debit MasterCard
                            - Monese, Debitt MasterCard, used for Apple Pay mainly, gorgeous app
                            - Curve, proxy MasterCard for others
                            - boon., virtual MasterCard for Apple Pay
                            - Revolut, holding and spending of foreign currencies
                            - TransferWise, same as revolut, but has German IBAN, which is needed sometimes
                            - bitwala, Bitcoin wallet and current account combined
                            - Moneyou Go, Just for testing

@Roeshimi#64105 Ha, I forgot all about my altcoin wallets. (To count it I mean.) Not really a bank of course, but still :P
