• MasterCard not accepted at online vending machine

I already raised an issue with this vending machine a while ago, it's located in our offices. It has a online NFC/Chip/Magneto reader and accepts Maestro, MasterCard and VISA. My old bunq Maestro card is accepted over NFC and Chip, but the new Maestro card (the one with the smaller contact plate on the front) is not (NFC is not recognised at all and dipping is refused because of some obscure limit that is not set in my account).

Today I tried my new MasterCard. First on NFC, but this got rejected with a "please swipe strip". Hm ok, so I enabled the magnetic strip in the app and tried again. This time I got a "please use chip". Ok, so I dipped the MasterCard......and got no candy. The machine claimed it was authorising the payment and after a few fruitless attempts the transaction was aborted.

Needless to say that my ING Maestro and Credit MasterCard and my N26 Debit MasterCard do actually work on this machine, all via NFC.

So now my fait it to starve to death, no food, no drinks :(

    Hey Arjan,

Please don't starve 😱 We need you!

There are a lot of different terminals in stores that all work a bit different. In order for us to check what happened with the payment you can drop by our support chat under 'Private Matters' in the Together tab 👍

    Thanks for letting us know

Hey! Your GIF didn't seem to be working. Fixed it for you 😄

Don't you have to use PIN the first time, to activate NFC (contactless payment)?

Yes I noticed, I uploaded it as attachment. I now uploaded it as image, seemingly at the same time you did :)

I think he'd rather have you fix his starvation problem lol

hahaha, LF, you might have a point there 🤔

Good point. I did make that mistake also

Maybe you should send him a Bunq food & beverage care package, so he still can go "bunqeren".

I contacted support and got nothing but "we are investigating this". I don't want to spoil the party but so far it seems that the bunq cards are less accepted. Not online due to the online-only but also due to the 'added safety check' that blocks 'certain' terminals and also because of NFC compatibility issues and seemingly issues in the processing of transactions (my dipping transaction is delivered to bunq but is refused for some obscure reason).

I hope you understand this is a complete mismatch with the premium pricing :(

No Offline PIN? LCOL EUR 0,-? UCOL EUR 0,-? N26 has UCOL EUR100,- or something. Maybe the same problem as with french toll stations? Wouldn't it be nice, if we could block 100EUR in one Account and get an UCOL100? Would this technical possible?

Oh hold on, i never used it with pin (yet). This might explain the nfc not working... Is this also a showstopper for swiping and dipping? The problem is: my local AH is not accepting the card so I need to find a spot to use it with pin.

Maybe you can use the ATM at your local AH.

I had the same issue today (with my Mastercard Debit), but I'm going to try it again tomorrow. Was able to pay my groceries at the local LIDL with my MC Debit card ;-)
