I do not understand how this happened?!
(Side-note: I followed this thread in the beginning, but itâs hard to keep track of what I have read. However, I understand the desire of wanting to opt-out from interest or the suprise of your monetary accounts being converted to accounts on which interest is received without your permission.)
As I said, I donât understand how this happened? Did bunq completely forget about a Persona or wasnât the Persona known before this topic? Or did they simply argue the preferences of a group that might be a minority (which is no excuses, but I am looking at causality) was less important than the bigger group? I donât understand how this happened. I understand you need to prioritize and cannot make an app for every individual but missing a whole Persona?!!
Today I was not part of this persona-minority, but I am afraid I am going to wake up one morning belonging to such a minority or forgotten Persona and finding my whole bank-setup not alligned with my situation anymore.
@ Bunq : Obviously you worked really really hard on update 10. So I am torn about this negative energy due to these users not being happy. On the other hand: you are bunq! If anyone can deal with this energy / feedback, it is you.
Please just take the time to explain how this happened.
Was it a concious choice to let the Persona represented by Zakaria et al. deal with the consequences? Didnât you know they would be against interest? I mean, all of this is based on the simplied requirement:
User wants interest (read an implied âall usersâ)
which is not true and could have been predicted before you started building the feature. Or was the complexity of this freedom of choice with different options of investing overshadowing this assumed core requirement?
I really want to understand how this came to be. Mistakes happen, but at this point, we donât even know if this was a (design) mistake or a concious decision and if one can speak of a âsurprise personaâ or âforgotten personaâ or âignored personaâ.
*Persona: I use it as âa specific type of user[group] with certain behaviours, preferences and ideaâs and interaction preferences interacting with a system/appâ - For example the âbudgetterâ or the topic starter and many commentors who do not want to receive interest; who donât want to make money with money. - From my perspective a user can belong to multiple personaâs, this might be mis-using the formal use of Persona; but I am just trying to communicate my suprise of missing a whole group of specific type of users, not start a definition discussion.
In my opinion, a general launched feature should never go against the core believes or usage alignments of your Persona -[groups]. If for some reason you still want or have to do this; you should inform people in advance.
Looking forward to reading bunqâs clarification.
