  • Metal card, Airport lounge access and cryptocurrencies?

I’ve been with bunq for week or so and I’m loving it so far! But I’ve been seeing some better perks with Revolut, such as their premium metal card and most importantly the lounge access! I think features like this would be great for bunq to be a more ‘premium’ bank, and I think features like this will make it appealing to not only start ups.
I would also love being able to invest in cryptocurricies here, this would definitely put bunq miles ahead of any other mobile banking company since from what I’ve tested this application and community are definitely the best

Maybe I’m the only one that thinks the current card design is mediocre, but let me know what you think

@MB-Obari#67770 That sounds like you basically want Revolut. I also don't really like the current card design and I would love to have a choice between some, but "I want Metal, Lounge Access and Crypto" sounds like "I want Revolut" for me.
I personally don't need a metal card, it's much more environment unfriendly, costs much more for the bank (that's why Revolut forces you to keep metal for at least a year) and stuff like lounge access? Well, there are other companies for that :/

@johannes#67772 Makes sense. I’m staying with bunq because the application and community is absolutely outstanding. Lounge access is not a big deal but it would be very nice to have invest emend in crypto. The cards don’t necessarily need to be medal just a higher quality plastic and maybe less colors since that makes it look less professional

I have to be completely honest now. And no, I won’t be rude. I saw this post and I lost 17% of my hair instantly 😂 Bunq isn’t a Revolut and I’m sure how Bunq will never be like a Revolut. I have to admit how I hate Revolut so much. And yes hate is a strong word but that’s a fact. And when someone mention that company I need a therapist. - I have to admit how Metal cards can be great and luxurious etc. but why do you need that ? Cause of personal satisfaction ? (That’s not a Revolut product btw, they just stole the concept from N26 which is more close to Bunq.) Long version short - we don’t need crypto on Bunq. We just need top-up with a card (and we need that desperately) for example I have money on Skrill and I don’t want to wait 3 days on my Skrill to Bunq bank transfer so I would like to top-up my account with a Skrill MasterCard. I would love to see additional card design for a premium user or possibly personalized card, with our designs/photos etc. but we don’t need to copy from some questionable UK companies. One more thing - It’s not hard for any company to sign a contract with a outsourced concierge service or travel agency and to start providing that kind of messy services but as I can see in Bunq everything is in-house and I love that so much. My last comment will be on a customer support. Bunq customer support isn’t premium - that is super mega deluxe friendly support and honestly instead of Metal cards I would always more appreciate to feel safe and happy like I am with a Bunq.

@Rivelo#67774 I see what you mean there. It definitely makes sense and puts the line for me in terms of what bunq is vs revolut. I’m happy with bunq and I’m staying. Those were just some things that I think could fit but it doesn’t matter if they dont. Customizable cards would be wonderful, definitely

Revolut is a good company as well :)
I would love to see the metal cards here at bunq as well! Metal cards are better for a number of reasons, including durability. But at the very very least different designs than the hideous cards we get now so that we can choose to get a serious looking card instead of a skitles card.

Last but not least, actually: a cryptowallet at bunq would be a good idea. It is part of the future after all! Trading in crypto not perse.

              3 months later

Who needs a (metal) card anyway when Applepay / Googlepay is around the corner? And lounge access? To me has nothing to do with banking at all. Let’s keep bunq a clean and colorful payment solution please.

@MB-Obari#67770 better perks with Revolut, such as their premium metal card and most importantly the lounge access

Please elaborate on how you've used this "most important" benefit?
AFAIK Revolut's Premium subscriptions give you one single "free" lounge access. After that, it's 25£ per lounge access if booked through the Revolut app - though you can often book the very same lounges for roughly the same price independently of Revolut (what's more, often for slightly less than going through Revolut).

@MB-Obari#67770 I would also love being able to invest in cryptocurricies here

I would consider Cryptocurrencies more as speculation than a proper "investment". But regardless, with bunq they would look like something cheaply (and somewhat pointlessly) tagged on to their product. Because they fit nowhere with their current products. bunq is a mono-currency bank focusing on EUR payments (with accounts and payment cards). Even though they did integrate TransferWise, but international transfers are still common functionality associated with a payment account.

Now, if bunq actually were a securities broker or had proper equities investment product, I would be for including Cryptocurrencies as well. However, without all that, adding cryptocurrencies would be little more than jumping on the fad bandwagon.
