Short answer to your question: No.
The long answer:
I read all the discussion on together today and I can totally understand that many people are confused and not happy with it, but I think all the criticism is going a bit to far now. There is a new post every hour on together, with basically the same arguments just written in an other way.
Yes, there are problems with the current implementation in my opinion. I think there is far to little information about the categories, I don't want to dig through a website made for Investors to find out what "Green" means in "Green" Companies.
And there should be an opt-out option. I personally wouldn't need that, but I get that some people just "hate" interests and that's fine. I don't want to discuss the reasons for that, if someone just doesn't want to get them - it's fine, so I hope this is coming!
But I don't get all this bunq is becoming disloyal to its own principles comments. Yes, Ali said that bunq is different because they do not make money with money, but you know what? This was 3 years ago, I don't think Ali (or bunq) had "Freedom of Choice" even in mind!
Freedom of Choice was introduced with the last update, and there we all basically know what's coming: bunq will use our money, but you will be able to choose in what they will invest it, your money. So now everybody can choose if the own money will be used like before (ECB + Government Bonds*), or if the money will be used for e.g. Green companies.
And instead of keeping the earned money to themselves, bunq give it to us - as it's our money that's getting used for investing.
So they are only "playing" with your money the way YOU allow it! And I think this is really revolutionary and got faaaar too little attention here! bunqers, we can now choose how our money will get used - like before? for Green companies? For other companies? you can decide and you get the profit of it!
As I said, it's not perfect. Even if we have the choice I totally get when some people just don't want to get interest, but for that there is an own topic on together here: https://together.bunq.com/d/8712-we-need-to-reserve-the-right-to-not-accept-interest-spaarrente/112 (bunq already replied looking into it!).
But please stop with this "becoming disloyal" thing.. they are not doing anything more with your money if you don't want them to do, *the government bonds thing is a topic here: https://together.bunq.com/d/8768-why-do-you-force-us-to-keep-our-money-in-government-bonds/13
.. and you know why they even introduced this? Because of bunqers asking for it! There is not just the "anti-interest" side here, there were many people asking bunq to do something with the money so it's not just "useless" and doing nothing! You can read more about it here: https://together.bunq.com/d/5030-behind-the-scenes-why-we-introduced-freedom-of-choice
Summary:
- Please bunq add an option to opt-out for people who don't like interest, and are not a fan of government bonds. Discussed here: https://together.bunq.com/d/8712-we-need-to-reserve-the-right-to-not-accept-interest-spaarrente/112 and here: https://together.bunq.com/d/8768-why-do-you-force-us-to-keep-our-money-in-government-bonds/13
Please give us more information about the categories.
Please explain more when you introduce such an "philosophy" changing feature.
And dear bunqers, try to understand why bunq introduced this feature and what's the philosophy behind it. It's the bank of the free and I think giving people the choice on how the own money is getting used is a really cool way to be a bank of the free.
