At bunq, we make sure your money is 100% safe and follow regulatory procedures in order to do so. As part of our Know Your Customer (KYC) duties, we may reach out to you for some additional account information in order to fulfill our customer due diligence requirements as a bank.
To make sure you can open an account with us seamlessly in 5 minutes, one of the things we need to know is the activities of your company.
Why is bunq asking me to provide this info?
We're legally required to monitor the usage of our bank accounts which is why it's important for us to confirm that information is always up-to-date. We made some changes in our sign up procedure to reflect this.
We want to know more about your business activities since not all types of business activities are within our acceptance policy and we want to better understand what you are doing. That's also how we possibly prevent unwanted restrictions being applied to your account at a later point. So, the more accurate and detailed information we gather at the very beginning of your journey with bunq, the better experience we can offer to you.
If any information is needed from you, a notification will appear within your Home tab. Then you can provide the necessary information directly from the app so you can continue to save time, every time 🚀
What activities aren’t supported?
The following is a list of activities and fields that we currently do not support as part of a bunq Business account:
- Crypto currencies (except crypto consultancy)
- Tobacco
- Pharmaceuticals
- Precious metals and minerals
- Financial institutions and other entities offering financial services
- Casinos, lotteries and other gambling related activities
- Trust companies and related entities
- Soft drugs
- Ideological or political activities
- Mining or quarrying
- Oil and gas industry
- Real estate investing and developing
- Weapons and ammunition
- Adult entertainment or the creation, distribution or licensing of pornographic or adult material
In order for us to approve your Business account, the activities and corporate structure must all comply with bunq’s requirements.
Did you just get a notification in the app?
Information events are the fastest way to save time when opening a bunq account! They serve as direct options for you to provide documents or information directly to us through your app. To find the events in the app, just follow the steps below:
- Go to 👤 Profile tab
- Tap on Awaiting Events
- Select Business information and tap on Awaiting business information
After that, you can upload the specific document or provide additional information that you can send directly to us 🎉
Did you receive another inquiry in the app?
We sometimes may need more information after you’ve set up your account. That’s again due to regulations and requirements we need to follow. You can read more about these types of inquiries here.
