  • Online cards; disposable cards just an update away?

Dear bunqers and bunqerettes,

Since update 10 we've gotten online cards - which are awesome by the way 😎- of which you can have 20 a year (first 5 are for free with premium):

The first 5 online cards are free with your Premium or Business subscription. After your first 5, you will be charged an additional €9,99 for the next 5 online cards you have active. 💳 On top of this, you can create a maximum of 20 online cards per year.

Now, you probably feel where I'm going with this; disposable cards 🥳

Why?
Many of us buy stuff online, nowadays with all the leaks coming out many credit cards (numbers + ccv etc) have been exposed.
How cool - and safe - would it be if you can use a credit card number only once for an online purchase and after which it gets invalidated?
Or even better, regenerated so each time you use the card it gets invalidated and you will get a new card (basically having only one disposable card at the time).

This way, whenever the number etc gets leaked, the information is useless 🙏

I like it, now what? 👌🏻
If you like the idea, high five it and who knows what the awesome bunq team will do!

    @Delano#72607 Absolutely +1 for this! 👍

      hmm, I think the way bunq currently does this with the rotating cvc is the easiest and most user friendly way, as with a card number in and off itself you can't do much, and I find that one card number which you can remeber but with a different cvc each 5 minutes, the security you want is still being maintained, as webshops may not even store the cvc and even if they did, after five minutes it is already invalidated. point is, disposible card numbers would be a huge wast of resources and of course bunq must pay mastercard for this.

        @DaveFlash#72618 Fair point. Probably the reason you can only have 20 virtual cards a year. I have no idea what the costs are for one MC number.
        Still diggin’ the rotating CVC though, although I noticed by default is set to not rotate 🤔

          @Delano#72628 ah, yes, for the online cards it's default to a fixed number because for online cards bunq figure you usually only use the cardnumber+cvc on a just handful of sites/merchants/subscriptions, so a rotating cvc doe not add much in the way of security.

            Any progress on disposable cards? Would be great to have the same feature as Revolut.
