  • Disable Emoji's in notifications

I would like to know if I can disable emoji's in notifications.
I am using Bunq as my main "professional" bank, but all the emoji's defeats that purpose.

    @JW#74586 Hi Jan,

Unfortunately, you can't disable just the emoji's. But you can disable all the notifications, but I think that isn't a solution for you.

Personally, I do like these emoji's and I think they do fit "the bunq way" of doing things.

I tag you remark as an idea 💡 so other bunqers can comment on that and give is a High Five 👐🏼 if they have the same wish.

    Have a great day.

I love the emojis. I get that some people might find them annoying in a professional situation, but I'm ok with them, even in a business environment. My line of business is pretty laid back, so no issues there.

@JW#74586 So you want to say that you are or feel less professional when you see emojis in notifications?

@JW#74586 I understand that some people don’t like the use of emojis (in notifications or anywhere else), but I don’t get the connection to the professional use of your account.

@Roeshimi#74665 I think that's a matter of personal preference, and can for sure understand that @JW feels that way. I personally am not annoyed by those emojis, but I don't think they are really necessary neither.

I am only requesting a toggle to disable these. It feels a bit off for me, personal preference

Why would you want your bank to be very professional. I love bunq for their vibe. 🥰🏳️‍🌈

Well, the term „emoji“ does not come from „emotion“ at all („emoticon“ does). „Emoji“ (絵文字) is literally a „picture letter“.

Some of them do express emotions, of course. I would agree that I don‘t need something like 🥳 in my push notifications, but for example 💳 or 🌈 are just depictions of things and don‘t carry any certain emotion in my opinion.

So, I personally think using emoji as a substitute for small icons is fine. Of course it depends on how they are used.

Nou laten we het zo zeggen, als ik ooit de communicatiestijl van bunq richting mijzelf zou kunnen kiezen (#featurerequest) dan zou ik gaan voor to-the-point, zakelijk en emotieloos.

I too like the emoji's, makes the notifications clearer when you glance at them 😀

                            a month later

I really don't like the emoji's (both in the notifications and here on Together); they make the bank look quite immature / unprofessional imho.

@Olaf-Turquoise-Jaguar#84971 you are not required to read Together. This is a community forum, some people like emoji, others don't. When you do not like them you are not required to use them. I don't see how you can force an entire community to not use emoji because of that.

For the notifications it would be nice to have a toggle maybe, but honestly I couldn't care less, the notification is gone with a single swipe, so personally it doesn't bother me. 🙂

Wait a second, I'm definitely not saying that the entire community forum should stop using emoji's. I agree that that would be quite an unreasonable thing to ask. With regards to Together I mainly meant posts from moderators and admins, which do function as an official source of information/support. But fair enough, I can ignore them easily enough.

@Olaf-Turquoise-Jaguar#84981 quick sidenote, moderators are just volunteers, no employees, so nothing official about our statements technically speaking (we always try to answer your questions as good as we possibly can of course) 🙂😉
