@Paolo-Grey-Turtle#75403 The problem is that bunq only deals in euros and Switzerland had Swiss francs. That is why you couldn't use bbunq while in Switzerland.

When you change your address in the app to a Dutch address, you'll be able to use bunq again like you did in Italy, if your account hasn't been suspended by you.

For further details on the precise status of your account, please contact bunq Private Matters, as we don't have any information on your account.

Welcome to The Netherlands by the way! Be advised that in The Netherlands a Maestro card is your card of choice and Apple Pay is not supported yet. Italian cards work on Apple Pay and if it is a Maestro card, you'll be able to use it throughout The Netherlands at almost all shops.

    There is no problem at all regarding Swiss Francs. And neither is there any problem using your bunq account and cards in Switzerland. The sole limitation is that you can't receive Swiss Francs directly to your bunq account, but have to do so in EUR. Which is no issue at all, as Switzerland is a SEPA country. Virtually every Swiss current account (held in CHF) can make SEPA transfer in EUR. Going further, many Swiss banks offer Euro accounts (CH-IBAN but kept in EUR) and even EUR payment cards.

    Conversely, many European banks (at least in neighbouring countries) will keep accounts for Swiss residents. And even open up new bank accounts and whole client relationships for Swiss residents.

    It's just that bunq having decided not to so. Nothing to do with currency or anything.

      @NiB#76130 Switzerland is not a member of the EEA

      To use bunq, you have to live in the EEA

        @l#76160
        ...which I happen to know and never disputed. ;)

        What I am saying is that that's just an arbitrary decision on bunq's part, not to take on non-EEA clients (as opposed to to actively advertising and offering to them).

          @NiB#76174 oh, yeah 😳🤐

            @NiB#76174 bunq can't even tell you if you live in the EEA as a resident whether or not you can get an account...

              @NiB#76130 I stand corrected. I was not aware of the integration of the euro in Switzerland and how easy it is to use euros at Swiss banks.

              Thanks for your clarification on that part!

                Hello, I just registered on Bunq, I am trying to put my address, it keeps saying “you must be in your place of residence to change the address?? I am living in Germany

                  @New-Indigo-Lion-2787865557#209231 Are you at your registered address right now? The bunq app needs to check with GPS in some cases, so make sure you are at your home address and have location services turned on at your phone and have given the bunq app access to your location when trying to set up your address

                  if that still doesn‘t work please reach out to Private Support so that they can assist you manually.

                    Yes I used the location and everything. thanks I am I’ll try

                      @New-Indigo-Lion-2787865557#209231 I have the same exact problem... I'm always getting the "you must be in your country of residence to be able to change the address. Try again when you get back home" error message

                        @New-Silver-Badger-1210558220#209487 Are you in the country you want to create the account for?

                          @David-Night-Fox-2260538364#209701 Hey David, I am temporarily in a different country than my residency but they changed the address in 2 working days after I sent the support a proof of residency

                            Forgot to say the problem was solved. Apologies for that.
