  • @johannes#71080 Yes, I understand that a British banking licence is not so easy to get, but I don't see the British Government instantly ignoring EU licences, as we have banks like N26, Handelsbanken and Triados here utilising it. As a result of this I believe it's more likely that they shall acknowledge these for 1-2 years minimum, while having banks and e-money corporations applying for local licences.

That's assuming Brexit actually takes place though, which is thankfully seeming less likely by the hour due to a mix of incompetance and pressure on the opposition.

    • Is there any intention of Bunq to continue to serve British customers that don't reside in one of the Union's member states, after 23:00 on 29th March? Will Bunq be applying for a British banking licence, assuming we leave the European Union?

I'm curious as Bunq is my only way of having a MaestroCard as nowhere else does one in the United Kingdom. On top of this Bunq's ethics are genuinely great, as well as the update cycle and very well designed app, it's very refreshing.

Edit: It occurs to me that other threads exist (I should have checked these in advance) however, I'm wondering if anything has changed since.

      • I think it would have been better if they took the interest rates and then used that to subsidise the Premium tier's cost, to be honest.

Then again, I live in a country where typically banking has been free in all of my lifetime at least. That and the 0.27% interest rate is considerably lower than anything I could find in my country (I think my lowest account pays out 0.5%), but maybe that's more a difference between the two different currencies.

To ask a question, is there an option only to invest in Sharia compliant companies? I'm sure this could have quite a lot of potential Muslim customers actually sign up to Bunq. It's definitely very nice that you can choose to invest in only green companies through, for a better Europe!
