  • I have different sub accounts for different purposes (e.g. my phone bills or insurances). These sub accounts are based on certain topics. Several parties get the money from these accounts via direct debit.
However, not all costs are monthly based. Take for example my hosting sub account. There, some monthly costs are involved (e.g. the servers) as well as yearly costs (e.g. for my domains).
Currently I have to keep track of all these payments in an extra sheet to calculate the amount to sort from my salary with the Payment Sorter to break down the yearly costs (or for example costs every three months) to a monthly amount.

For me, this is something bunq could incorporate in the Payment Sorter. There, I would like to be able to keep track of the payments from a sub account (monthly, yearly and for example every 3rd month) and their amount to easily break it down to a monthly amount which is automatically sorted to the account.
In addition, if for example an insurance rises their prices, bunq could keep track on what portion for the next payment already was sorted to the sub account and then can assist me to add additional money to the sub account the money will be deducted from once I change the amount in the payment sorter.

I would like not to have it based strictly on the payments in bunq itself as for example my hosters try to bundle several close invoiced into one payment to reduce costs for them. Therefore, it would be ideal for me to have my "tracking sheet" in bunq itself with the option to also add payments from the accounts.

    • @LunaBytesBack#292775 Now it is available for me.

      • Updated the app. It is set to German and I got a German account. However, there is not the button to add an external bank account.

          • Hi everybody. I am currently thinking of ordering a metal card by prepaying my subscription für 12 months. However, I expect that I will need to order a new metal card after about 1 1/2 years. As far as I understand the metal card is free as long as I prepay my plan for 12 months after more than a year. Does that mean I can get a new metal card free of charge (by prepaying) again after this period of time?

            • @Eru#280329 You can't change it. However, you can sort the incoming payment like other incoming payments. This is how they implemented it.

              • @thijsoost#280294 it is like sorting incoming transfers. So you tap on the incoming transfer and sort it there.

                • For me it would also be nice to have separate settings on which accounts the cashback and interest are received.
For me personally cashback is something I get back in my regular cash flow while interest should be added to my savings.

                  • Just a quick disclaimer, I do not work for bunq. However, I work in IT security.

Accounts should be locked after several failed login attempts. Therefore, guessing the code is not a valid option.

In case your device gets compromised this suggestion would only help slightly. Attackers with enough time can record every login from you and therefore can wait until they get every digit of your 6-8 digit code (in case only a few are required).

In case of so called "shoulder surfing" where an attacker observes how you type in your passcode and steals your phone afterwards, you are right. If only certain digits are required and they differ each time, this could make it very difficult. However, the attack scenario is not very likely.

I think this suggestion has some potential, however, in some cases I think it can even lower the security level. Having two different access levels would be nice. For example, you can enter with your code like before, however, doing transactions could require a second code (with settings for amount or disable it entirely). I'm not sure how to feel about the suggestion with only certain digits required from the code as in case of a guessing attack might reduce the complexity and therefore might result in codes being easier to guess.

To ensure mails sent by bunq are more difficult to forge I would suggest to sign them with S/MIME or PGP to make it easier for users to verify the mails are sent by bunq and not modified on the way.
