Freek well, that's the thing... as mentioned by Jeroen 🏳️‍🌈 .... the pricing document indicates that ordering extra cards beyond the 3 included ones is not possible within bunq Joint...

Jonathan Normally indeed I'd have 2 cards in my wallet as does my wife, for our own and our joint account (groceries etc) but with bunq you can switch your card on the fly so you need less card and then there are the 5 virtual cards... I think we'd manage.

For me it is unusable for a family where I need at least 4 cards.
2 parents - 2 children having each a maestro card.

Freek Well... You can leverage dual-pin to your advantage maybe in this case. One card can link to two accounts. Just means that for the secondary you can’t use contactless payments.

Patrick Yeah I understand. It's strange because the 2€/month/card would be acceptable for me.

Jonathan JohnDo is correct. My wife and I already changed to joint and it works as he described it. I froze my MasterCard and now only have one maestro. My wife has MasterCard and maestro because she does most of the shopping. We now have 25 accounts total which is enough for us.(instead of 50 with two premium accounts). You’re always free to upgrade back to premium and reactivate your cards.

Andy So if even the cards are still personal too and not shared, what exactly is joint besides the name and all the limits!?
The more I understand about it, the less attractive it gets.

What made you think this is a better idea than joining a Pack and pay 5 euro each?

It would be real nice if there would be 4 passes with bunq joint... that way partners can each have their own account and a pass for a shared account... 3 passes is to limited for me...

Marc Yeah, on second thought I agree, I could never get my wife to switch iban before doing groceries, she just wants 1 card for personal and one for the joint account... I could do the switching but then we also really need 1 (preferably 2) physical MasterCards so 4 is indeed minimum and 5 would be better.

Marc Could you use the dual pin functionality so you don't need two passes per person anymore?

When the kids get older I can also see this as a nice family option, but then the 2 kids would also both need a Meastro card...

The joint thing basically works with just a premium account also... my wife has a free account (250 eur transfer per month max) with an account for herself and one for our joint account.
Now ofcourse that 250 eur per month is a problem so out of my 3 premium cards she uses 1 for the joint account.
She can use the bunq app for the joint account because she has a free pass for it but in reality she uses my 3rd card for the joint account..

I only was able to so this since we have the online cards, i cancelled my physical mastercard with bunq (used that cardslot for my wifes joint card) and am using one of the online cards for a credit card (since i only use it for online purposes that works out fine).

But as said I really appreciate the fact that bunq is doing this. It is a nice addition to the account types.

As said before
+together 25 bank accounts -> fine
+together shared accounts and some private savings -> perfect
- BUT in total 3 cards is strange.... of course if you use it up to 10 people. But I would use it only with my wife. maybe I do not need a maestro. Maybe. But what is happening if they do not accept MasterCards ?....

Mhhhh... 🤔 call my wife then?

I just made a joint account for me and my girlfriend. Because I'm abroad a lot I have 2 cards for me and 1 card for home use (for when I'm gone). I'd love for my gf to be able to switch the accounts coupled to the card, one of the bonuses of the joint-account in my opinion. How do I go about transferring one of my cards to her? Because now I'm maxed out with 3 cards for 1 joint account.

Wouter Do you mean you changed to a joint subscription? As I understand now you have to freeze one of your cards and then she can order her own card.

I'm not sure why you need 1 special card to pay in your home country. That one card has to be the same type as one of the cards you use abroad. So you can use that one in your home country too, can't you?

Jeroen 🏳️‍🌈 It’s cheaper than 2 premium accounts.
I personally don’t want to join a pack with strangers. We are using bunq as our main bank. So for us the new account is a good addition. When the kids grow older we can change to a pack. This way it stays all in the family.
But I agree that having 4 cards or the possibility to buy a fourth one would be nice.

Jeroen 🏳️‍🌈 Hi Jeroen, thats correct, i can use them both home and abroad, but i’m away from home a lot for work and i take my 2 cards with me to pay for stuff. To be able to pay for things at home, my gf has a card too so she can use the money from our bunq-account to pay for things when i’m out living it up with my 2 cards somewhere else in the world ;)

Answer is clear, I’ll freeze one card and get another one onher account, thanks!
