Verified legal name option for bunq.me

John Do Welk probleem lost het op als je (een variant van) de legale naam van iemand weet? Tenzij mensen een unieke naam hebben weet je natuurlijk nog steeds weinig als het om Jan Smit, Kees Jansen of wat dan ook gaat.
Als je iets meer wil ondernemen vanwege fraude of wat dan ook dan is het veel nuttiger om een kloppend adres te hebben dan een kloppende naam. En die heeft bunq voor zover ik weet ook niet altijd 100%.

Jeroen 🏳️‍🌈 This is about prevention of scams. Say someone pretends to be a relative, then you have an extra indicator that you might not be transferring to who they claim you are transferring. I could set my display name to "KWF" and some people might fall for it. More warnings is better I think for such cases. 🙂

Sander Aha, je vangt het natuurlijk wel af als mensen gaan doen alsof ze het Rode Kruis zijn.
Overigens was dit vroeger zo en is dit juist aangepast na verzoeken uit de community.
Ik vind het eerlijk gezegd zelf een heel slecht idee zolang bunq de koppeling tussen together en bunq.me in stand houdt. Ik heb er geen probleem mee om mijn normale naam op bunq.me te gebruiken maar ik heb er geen zin in dat die dan ook op together moet staan.

John Do Ik snap überhaupt niet dat ze die link ooit hebben gemaakt. De reden dat mijn naam op bunq.me nu anders is komt juist door deze wijziging die bunq zelf heeft gedaan. Maar goed ik heb al vaker gezegd dat het dom is om deze twee dingen die niets met elkaar te maken hebben wel met elkaar te verbinden. En zeker als de enige reden is dat ze te lui zijn om een extra veldje aan te maken.

John Do Tuurlijk, maar ik wil niet gebrandmerkt worden als onbetrouwbaar door bunq enkel omdat bunq dit zelf zo stom heeft bedacht.
En ik neem aan dat voor alle mensen die er juist om gevraagd hebben om een andere naam op bunq.me door te voeren daar ook niet gelukkig van worden.
Wellicht is het een kwestie van beter ten halve gekeerd dan ten hele gedwaald, maar dan moet men de wijziging van de display name op bunq.me ook terugdraaien. En als ze dat dan toch doen is het hele keurmerk overbodig omdat je dan weer in de situatie bent dat de naam op bunq.me altijd klopt en niet meer een verzonnen naam kan zijn.

Herman Well, the page itself can be tampered with after downloading it of course. It should just be an indication that the person you are paying is using his/her actual name. It's not 100% foolproof, in the end it comes down to the user, always. But the more warnings you have the bigger the chance you catch one of them.🙂

As we now have possibilities to make more than one bunq.me link, I would like to have choice which name is connected and shown.

John Do Ik gooi zulke mailtjes altijd weg, maar toevallig kreeg ik er vanochtend weer 1 met een link die uiteindelijk uitkomt op bunq.me/mijncjib

Ik heb al een melding gestuurd via de support chat, is dat de beste manier? Ik kon geen apart mail adres vinden voor zulke meldingen.

Al te snugger zijn ze trouwens ook niet, ze hadden best het bedrag en de omschrijving in de link kunnen opnemen.

Fine to get a “verified name” badge (although I think it serves very little purpose), but there shouldn’t be a “not a real name” notice if you choose to use an alias on (one of) your links. This will cause needless confusion and force you to give up an ability for privacy/anonimity. For example, I could be developing some aswesome FOSS-software but I’m really not interested in exposing who I am to everybody (people contacting you for irrelevant crap, demanding support, that kind of thing - and they’ll always find you). I still want people to be able to donate. An anonymous link offers a good solution there. If you have to mention “nevermind the warning that it may be a fake donation”, donations would probably plummet all the same as people get wary. ;)

So it’d be cool to have (on a specific link) if you choose to, but for those that choose not to: nothing should change. If there’s fraud with the bunqme link, go to the police, give them the link that was used and they can get in touch with bunq to figure out whose behind the account. ;) Which they’ll have to do with that badge as well as it still reveals naught. :P

LvH The badge is intended to be preventing. When you need to go to the police you're already quite late. Especially this (complete) anonymity is a problem I think. You can easily fake a charity or whatever now without anyone necessarily noticing. The notice should say something like "the person might not be using their real name", to indicate people they just should double check what they're doing. Showing only a verified badge makes no sense to be honest, how do you know the badge is missing when you don't know about the badges for instance? 🙂

Sander Het probleem begint dan wanneer mensen het alleen nog maar vertrouwen als de badge er wel is. Dat is toch juist het punt van die badge? Met badge is betrouwbaar, zonder badge is niet betrouwbaar.

Sander Well I just can’t agree with punishing people for wanting to have privacy and anonimity due to a very marginal risk of fraud.

Besides, it works the same on Twitter and that works fine. If it’s a verified profile, the badge shows to boost confidence it’s legit. If it isn’t verified, nothing shows. Works fine.

Essentially your idea is to force people to use this because otherwise they’re at a disadvantage and the page will show warnings... People will start feeling compelled to use it and show their real name at all times. That’s unacceptable and a terrible idea imho. I hope bunq doesn’t agree and will not shove this down our throats in this way.

Just to reiterate: I fully support the idea to be able to show a badge when verified just like on Twitter and think that’s a great idea - but I fiercly disagree with ruining the experience for others just because they want some extra privacy. Don’t let the good be punished by the very few bad (relatively), the police can sort that as mentioned. :)

Ik vind het een slecht idee. Alleen het feit om je al te binden aan 1 naam zoals de mainstream vind ik sneu. Ik heb meerdere persona,s en als ik mijn brood snel wil verkopen dan heet ik bakker jan. En als ik een telefoon verkoop heet ik Mark Tech. Dus blijf vooral jezelf onderscheiden als bank daarom kiezen wij voor u.

GMNetworks Hoi 👋 Mark, dank voor je feedback. Met ons idee heb je nog steeds de optie om elke naam die je wilt te kiezen en te wijzigen wanneer je maar wilt.

Eigenlijk vind ik wel dat je soort van vaste naam hebt bij bunq 🌈.... want als ik mij publieke naam aanpas, heet ik ook opeens anders op Together en dat zorgt voor verwarring in mijn geval.

@bunq Hoi, ik heb een Bunq-betaallink (http://bunq.me/deejee/ <-- mag altijd geld naar toe!), alleen staat daar tegenwoordig 'unverified' bij. Kan dat weg? Dat voelt nogal onbetrouwbaar voor de ontvanger.

Seems bunq had now adder this to bunq me aswell as removed the option for non-bunq costumers to Create any new bunq me links. So your idea has been turnde into reality. At leest in a bit.

DaveFlash Dit is niet precies wat John heeft gevraagd. Bij mij staat er niet (UNVERIFIED) achter en het is toch niet mijn officiële naam. Als ik het goed begrijp staat het er nu achter als het een niet-bunq bankrekening is.
