Ah. Bunq paid me my 9€ back. The support is really cool! 🌈
Umm, here you can see my card in action:
Older thread on language preference of cards say:
"The card's language settings are based on that of your app 😄":
https://together.bunq.com/d/177-change-language-preference-of-mastercard-maestro
Sorry for not updating this thread.
Just to inform you: The card prefered lanugae is "de".
However, according to this thread https://together.bunq.com/d/177-change-language-preference-of-mastercard-maestro you need to pay once to set the correct language.
I haven't paid with my "new" card yet. Let's put it in a terminal (before that I'll set my phone language to dutch, reboot and start bunq once) and see what happens.
Today I was in a supermarket and I put my bunq maestro in the chip reader of the Verifone H5000 Terminal. Before that, I set the language to dutch (region also) and restarted my phone.
@JeroenE#97946 Yes, but I read my card out after the first transaction (with my chipreader) and it still says "de".
Okay. I found out something new today about the Apple Pay cards and their prefered language.
Your iPhone has multiple prefered languages. The first two of them are used for your virtual apple pay card.
For example, this are the settings of my iPhone:
English is first, german is second.
This is how it looks in cardpeek (a software to read out data of your EMV card):
As you can see, it is set to "english first, german second" also.
When I change my language back to german (or any other language) it does not change the language of the apple pay card. The apple pay card language is set when you add your card from the bunq wallet to apple pay.
Maybe for physical cards it means that.. you just not have to set your language to your prefered language when you order your card or pay with it.. you have to set it the whole time to your prefered language (until it is on the EMV chip).
I have got this issue too, ordered the card when phone was in English and now I receive the English commands at the payment terminal when my language is Dutch and my phone is in Dutch as well. Is it possible to change this or not?
Hey there, @DiegoT#282198 👋
I cannot definitively determine whether the issue lies with the card itself or the specific POS terminals in use. I want to clarify that there is no option within the app to modify this situation. To possibly address this, you can consider ordering a Virtual Credit Card through the app, adding it to Google Wallet or Apple Pay, and attempting a payment using this digital card at a POS terminal. This may help resolve the issue you are experiencing 🙏
