Which one do you prefer and why?
Which one do you prefer and why?
I have both, but I don't use N26. Why? I only have a Mastercard Debitcard and that cannot be used on many places in NL. Besides this, they only have one account...and I really LOVE the 25 bunq accounts. So every saving goal can have it's own IBAN (which I can share with my wife). Besides this I do think the bunq app is MUCH better. N26 has something good....it's FREE.... ;-)
I have both. Bunq, by far. Lots and lots of features and great customer support.
But N26 is free, has a web interface and a great Mastercard design.
What I hear about N26 is that they have a slick visual representation of your balance and expenses. Wouldn't mind some more visual categories and balance visualisation on the bunq app.
bunq -> way better app (in my opinion) and much nicer and more reactive customer support.
N26 -> I only use it for Apple Pay 😬
Does the German card work for use with Apple Pay?
That's a thing I'd also love to see in the bunq app
Difficult question because I always have strongly pointed out that you simply can't compare bunq to any other bank. And that is exactly why I love bunq. Does that make sense? :)
If I set aside the whole emotional aspect and bunqs price model, I choose bunq because of:
1) The 25 bank accounts. I find this very helpful for managing expenses.
2) Connect functions. I almost share all my accounts with my wife and vv.
3) Freely and instantly assign your card to any of you accounts. And let's not forget the dual pin option. This makes budgeting even more effective. For instance, I bought some holiday gifts for my nieces and nephew using a bank account which we created in order to set aside money for them :)
4) The top notch app which makes every feature extremely simple to use.
5 The top notch customer service.
So that were some examples of why I find bunq better then N26. For me N26 does behave bit more like a traditional bank.
Hope this helps.
Is no doubt that the responsivness and the manageability is better at bunq.
On the other hand i find Revolut better than N26.
So long you have only payments in Eur Bunq is the King, when you travel abroad, where you must pay or exchange money to different currency Revolut is the best.
They offer realtime interbank 0% commission rate and is free. You do not have to pay monthly payments for the card, nor for the account.
You pay 6eur and the card is valid 5 years.
You can even take out money without being charged anywhere in the world.
So i use each one of them on its own designated purpose.
Seems like it: https://n26.com/n26-apple-pay-live/
I or we use both at the moment. I have to say that bunq wins al almost everything, but price ofcourse. But i guess you can't put that in real perspective.
Exactly what John said. But for me, the top reason is that N26 doesn't have a "soul". In many ways they are just like an old fashioned bank. The only thing they have going for them, is that they hand out free cards like they're candy. (Always take a second to think, when everything is free)
So what do I mean by a soul? bunq breathes passion and a sense of community. I mean, how cool is it that we can even talk about this here?! And of course, most importantly: They're not trying to make money with my money. Ali and the staff really stand for something. And they communicate with us. So while maybe that's just an emotional aspect, it's a very important one to me.
You are absolutely right Patrick!
The last I heard revolut add 2% fee to the interbank rate at weekends. They add a markup to the exchange rate for a bunch of smaller currencies too.
I'm wrong. The revoult weekend markup is 0.5% to 1.5% depending on currency.
+1 for the Bunq app being better. I like the #hashtagging of transactions in N26, but the app just takes so long to open on my iPhone 7.
Your last point is my experience as well. N26 still feels more like a traditional bank with online features. And support is definitely better with Bunq!
You’re right Stephen. The solution is to create an account in, say, pounds before you travel. That way, the money is deducted from that account and you don’t have to pay the 1.5% fee.
I plan on keeping using bunq precisely for those situations.
Something that’s often neglected, and I believe that’s also where Bunq is excelling!
I’ve N26 maestro/mastercard, Revolut (Visa version) and Bunq premium.
All works fine and all has it’s own purpose:
N26 is free, Revolut has a small price and Bunq Premium is more expensive but of course you get more value for that. If you want more options Bunq is there for you.
Well that’s what I call free.
