  • A bigger risk is bunq being brought by any of the mainstream retail banks and accounts being transfered to that bank. Exactly that happened to me with current accounts, credit cards, and utilities.

    • Exactly. If you give crypto to anyone else to 'protect' you just downgraded from holding an uncrackable asset to holding a promise from a third party.

      • You can use coinomi for free. You don't need a bank to secure crypto-currencies, the protection is already built in. It's the "crypto" part.

        • I know the N26 debit MasterCard works on a plane. Maybe they have satalite internet? I would not be at all embarrassed about the payment failing, merchants deal with cards failing all the time. Just bring backup cash.

          • Doesn't bunq have some kind of donate to a cause or event thing? Why not use that?

            • Bunq definitely won the colourful envelope competition.

              • I've used Azure. Seriously, it's not production ready. It's the cloud of choice of those who don't have a choice. AWS is a far better bet.

                • My car was recently stolen. Can someone give me 40k to buy a new one? (Joking. Chill out)

                  • If you send a separate transfer to a non-euro account the receiving bank will receive euro and transfer it to local currency at an UTTER RIP OFF rate. Don't even think of doing it, you will be FLEASED! Use Transferwise.

                    • I absolutely love this idea!

                      • I'm wrong. The revoult weekend markup is 0.5% to 1.5% depending on currency.

                        • The last I heard revolut add 2% fee to the interbank rate at weekends. They add a markup to the exchange rate for a bunch of smaller currencies too.

                          • I love the allow by country feature. I love the fact you can set time periods per county. But I can see how some would find it annoying.

How about allowing by region as well as by country. I.e. allow Asia, allow Europe, allow south America?

                            • It's the 29th. Where is the free fish? 🍴🐟🦐🦑🍴

                              • Europe has just implemented a new SEPA transfer service allowing sub 10 second SEPA transfers. Currently the only Dutch banks participating are ABN/AMRO and ING. It looks like this service will become a Europe wide iDeal.

Does Bunq have any plans to participate?

                                • Why do you believe that the US doesn't already have full details of every transfer you make? Unless you are finding a known terrorist group or a US person they have little interest in you. If you want real privacy you need something outside conventional banking.

AWS is perfectly safe. Bunq's biggest cool on-line competitor is on AWS.
