Hey there! ✌ I just received a new bunq Debit card. I love the new finish of the front of the card, feels like the Travel Cars but less shiny. The big problem though is the back of it. It has a weird all black plastic finish that loves fingerprints and the signature box is gone! I can't sign the card anymore... Did something went wrong in the production of the card or was it just a bad idea? 😕
@Nicolas-Magenta-Turtle#115351 Why do you need a signature box? The Travel Card also doesn't have a signature box.
@pbruins84#115355 Because it doesn't have a signature field (like most credit cards).
I have never in my life signed a (credit) card, I always found it strange to bundle my personal identifier with the card like that. I never led to any problems. Is a signature even required? I do know Rabobank used to say it was, no idea if they still do.
Mastercard has recently started issuing cards without signature box as they plan to stop making signing cards compulsory. You only need to sign your card if it has a signature box. Otherwise, you don’t. This was also weird and new to me. But this seems to be the next big thing with Mastercard cards. N26 has also started issuing cards without signature box only.
@Freek#115361 Well yeah, if there is a signature box, you have to sign the card. If not, then you don’t. That’s at least what Mastercard‘s German Twitter team told me.
@Nicolas-Magenta-Turtle#115358 P.S.: Your new card seems to be some interesting mixture between old and new. On my Travel Card and Maestro, there is no signature box, but it also doesn’t say “Signature” any more.
@hallelu#115367 Yep it's weird. So am I supposed to sign it if there's a signature label but no signature box?
Good question. I would say you don’t.
@Nicolas-Magenta-Turtle#115370 Good question. I would say you don’t as you just can‘t.
@hallelu#115372 Yep! I've tried but unless I buy a white pen I don't think it will be possible.
@Nicolas-Magenta-Turtle#115376 Yep. If you can’t sign it with a normal pen then you don’t have to sign it at all, I’d say.
@hallelu#115377 Yep I think so. Thanks for the help 🙏
@Nicolas-Magenta-Turtle#115378 You’re welcome! ☺️
Signatur ist in etwa so veraltet wie Telefone mit Wählscheibe. Ihr bezahlt doch mit PIN. Das ist viel wertiger als Unterschrift.
@Nicolas-Magenta-Turtle#115351 What type? Mastercard or Maestro? A "debit card" can be both, except the TC.
@Heiko-Hartwig#115454 MasterCard
