Itâs a bit sad that so many only compare 99 Euro per year to receiving the metal card. Itâs simply a green development Programm powered by a turnover/transaction incentive. No more, no less. And you get a Metal card. If you donât want a Metal card you can choose donating yourself or not at all which is fine as each one is free to choose. đ
Bunq needs revenues. Itâs only internally financed, by Ali. The is no private equity investor or any other third party via âextrasâ influencing the decisions of bunq. Correct my if Iâm wrong but as far as I know itâs the only real independent bank for now.
Bunq earns via account plans and transaction fees. No loans or any kickbacks. Just plain vanilla âcashâ banking. They cannot afford to donate by default from I.e. 7,99 Euro customer. So the idea to connect the wish for a metal card with a green project and support using card payments is a no brainer.
A Metall card in 2020 thatâs silly, nostalgic but if it provides the chance to plant trees itâs really at least something sustainable.
