  • More characters for TransferWise descriptions

Hi,

As suggested by customer support I will post my suggestion here.

I tried to pay a bill, requiring me to provide the reference number (~20 digits) in the "extra info". However, bunq only supports a very short message to be included in the payment. I had to switch to my ABN account (which allows 150 characters to be sent) in order to do the payment.

Would be nice if BunQ added the possibility to add larger messages to payments.

Regards,

Bas

    @Bas-Green-Penguin#140740 this sound like a serious limitation indeed, bunq should just follow the SEPA guidelines in this and make it possible to have as many characters in the fails as SEPA rules allows for.

      Hi @Bas-Green-Penguin#140740 @DaveFlash#140741

      Thats incorrect, you can add up to 140 characters with a SEPA payment.

        @Tim#140746 Ok. Why would ABN allow for 10 more?

          I just re-tried and I can definitely only add 12 characters.

            @DaveFlash#140748

            I have no idea. Rabobank and ASN Bank also have a limit of 140 characters and thats the SEPA standard so probably a typo.

              @Bas-Green-Penguin#140750

              Are you sure you are sending a SEPA transfer? I just send a SEPA transfer with 140 characters successfully. Are you perhaps sending a transfer in another currency through the TransferWise integration?

                @Tim#140752 It could have indeed been 140 instead of 150 for ABN.

                Yes that is correct, I'm using TransferWise to send SEK (from Euro) to a Swedish account!

                  Tim changed the title to More characters for TransferWise descriptions.

                    Hi @Bas-Green-Penguin#140756

                    Is it perhaps a so called OCR reference method?

                    I found another topic which was also concerning transfers to Sweden. The solution was to send a different kind of transfer. There's 3 different options here and it's possible they all 3 have a different character limit.

                      It might work indeed. Although I'm not sure it will follow through. Prefer to just use IBAN
