• Travel card in Vietnam

@mathias#145674 Thank you Mathias, this is really helpful and can be added to the Vietnams notes for users with Travel Card. Ill try to locate one as we change cities.

    @Neihana#145752 Hi Nathan 👋, thank you for this, I can share 2 examples for this that might be helpful for you.

    The first one: on that same place a friend with bunq debit had no issues where the I got below transaction failed:

    The second one: The Agribank has many ATM and you do pay a fee but still bunq travel failed where bunq debit was fine:

    Hope that helps and all users can benefit if it gets fixed.

    Sorry for the long post and thank you for all your help.

          Adding this for anyone looking to use the Travel Card to withdraw money from an ATM in Vietnam, Cambodia or Thailand - To this day I did not succeeded in any of those countries. Get yourself a debit bunq along (for cash withdraw) with the Travel/credit one (for post payments) and youll be all set.

            Hi @DU#147944

            Just out of curiosity.

            Did you choose a different option at the ATM regarding the choice between Checking, Saving, Credit and Default account? Did you make a different choice with another card which resulted in the transaction to be completed successfully? Not sure if it will affect the transaction with a bunq card though but I always choose either default or checking account at foreign ATM's with all these different options.

              @Tim#147947 Hi Tim,

              I’ve tried all options but nothing changed in the end result. The only cards that Ive manage to get money with are debit ones. Cheers

                Is the reason for this that the ATMs cannot work with the travel credit card or is the problem on bunq's end?

                  Hi @TimothyAlexander#147973 👋🏽

                  One of the main issues we face with ATM acceptance is that some banks/ATMs have yet to update their BIN registry, which means the newer bunq cards (i.e. Travel Card) can have some acceptance issues.

                  We're working with Mastercard to get these updated, but as there are many places where this can be an issue, it's a slow process to have these up to date. That's why it's great if these issues are continued to be reported so we can reach out to these banks specifically to make sure that we get the best acceptance possible! 🌈

                    @Neihana#148086 Oh okay! I did not know that ATMs have a BIN registry that needs to be updated for every card to work. Imho, that does not seem like a good thing for new banks at all

                      @TimothyAlexander#148089 Indeed, it can be quick problematic. To be fair, the vast majority of banks keep these up to date as they are of course wanting cards to be accepted, but it's not always in the case in various countries around the world!
