• Ideas Implemented
  • SuperGreen (1 per 100€)

@mangerlahn#156322 The idea sounds great and has a well founded background, but I fear it might be too complex.

@Esther-Orange-Unicorn#156326 I agree, this could potentially be complex and hard to understand. But I'd still like to see whether it is possible to implement in an easy way.

The first thing that came to my mind is probably too complex, but that's why its a first thought right? 😉
A point system could be introduced in which every € spent with a debit card gives you 1 point. 1€ spent with the credit card gives you two points. Every 100 points gives you one tree. Done.

But before we get into properly designing such a system it would be good to know from @bunq if that works out financially for them. Not sure if they can share this info though.

It's all fine and dandy that the trees are paid for using the interchange fees, but then why is the supergreen plan twice as expensive? What other features are there?

I’ve got the same feeling. I’ve gotten into the green card boat because of the 2 trees per 100€.

I want a solution. This new change is NOT OK!

I’m taking this serious and bunq should consider that in their general agreement they say that all changes start 60 days after notifying. Bunq is not following part 44 in their own agreement! Again bunq, this is not ok!

                Hey guys!

Thanks for the feedback on this.

We do understand that a few people could end up planting less trees in the first year, even though overall the whole bunq community will plant 50% more trees with Supergreen.

We’re looking at a solution for the people who would plant less trees now.

We’ll let you know more info this week.

                Cheers
                Tom

Maybe in a Supergreen subscription bunq could let évery payment count to save on trees. Not only via the card payments but also with (scheduled) payments, money transfers when paying your invoices or direct debits. So in fact, for every €100 we spent with bunq a tree is planted. Not for nothing to u named it Supergreen after all, right?!

@Tom#156726 Da sind schon gute Nachrichten

@Tom#156726 Thanks for the update. Sounds good.

@MarJamJars#156731 Letting only card payments count has an imo very good reason. Not only could you easily fabricate non-real spending if bunq would let regular money transfers count, but they also don‘t generate any income because there are no interchange fees for bunq to collect. Don‘t want to start a price discussion but the subscription includes all kinds of features, multiple cards including one Metal Card. It‘s not just pure profit for bunq.

However, not giving legacy Green Card owners their 2 trees per 100 Euro (at least when they use their Green Card / Metal Card), is just poor form. The bunq community somehow probably planting 50% more trees on average has literally nothing to do with the matter at all. I wonder why they thought this „excuse“ would go over well with people. They are the ones that started with the gamification of banking by implementing awards or the tree counter. They should know best how important these numbers can be to some users who strive to „collect“ or „earn“ more awards / points / trees. Is it stupid to care about this? Yeah, probably. But they started with it, they need to take it seriously.

@Tom#156726 Thanks for the heads up, really looking forward to your solution on this :)

Sometimes I wonder to myself (now though to the bunq world) if bunq is being led by professional business minded people or idealistic university students. Seems more like idealistic students.
There’s just no way that any business minded person would have just made such drastic changes as we saw a couple of days ago.

Numa doação do valor que dei do cartão planto bastantes árvores.

                                  @Casper-Yellow-Wolf#156728 This is incredibly lame

I just received an e-mail from bunq saying:

'[we] have decided to plant 2 trees per €100 spend on your Metal Cards, until March 2021. On top of that, you will continue to get 1 tree per €100 spent on all your other bunq cards.'

Very nice solution in my opinion, kudo's for this.
