Transfer from a Canadian Bank to my Bunq business account

Could you let me know the process for Bunq to accept the funds and the length/days to see the fund transfer reflected in my account in The Netherland? Thanks in advance. Kind regards

1) You can send a regular SWIFT transfer to your bunq account. These take from 1-4 working days. However, as bunq does not have any correspondence banks, and only deals in Euro, it can only accept SWIFT transfers that are denominated in Euros. All transfers that reach them in other currencies will be rejected. Additionally, bunq will always (irregardless of you specifying BEN, OUR or SHA as charge detail) take some fees for processing incoming SWIFT transfers. 2) You could also use a third party service to transfer the money, like TransferWise: https://transferwise.com That can have advantages and disadvantages. Reasons for choosing a third party are that transfers are generally substantially cheaper, that currency conversion is automatically done (so you don't have to worry about your sending bank converting to Euros, which not all banks can do), and that transfers are often faster. However, signing up for a new service can sometimes take some time in case they need to verify you first, and not all services support every country and every type of transfer. Also, you might just not wanna want to deal with a third party when transferring money.

Ida The bunq local currency account for CAD does not support domestic Canadian payments. It is however denominated in CAD currency. Another person can send a SWIFT bank transfer in CAD currency from any other bank (including Canadian banks). If your friend doesn't know what to do, they should ask their bank and ask them how to send an international SWIFT transfer in CAD currency to a UK bank and then provide the details that are shown in your bunq local currency account.

Keep in mind, fees are probably quite high for SWIFT transfers. Both for your friend to send them and for you to receive them and they can be hard to predict, as intermediate banks are allowed to take their own fees that you might not know about in advance.

Personally, for receiving payments to my bunq account from friends in North America, I advice them to use Wise.com and provide them with my Euro bank account details. The fees are cheaper, predictable and transfers are usually quite fast. However, it means you're involving a third-party (Wise) in your money transfer, which some people might not appreciate. However I have made only good experiences with them so far. Another third-party that is quite cheap but that I haven't tried out myself is Remitly.

Ida There is a button to exchange from CAD to Euro inside the bunq app. The fees are 0.5%, which is quite good.
