  • Money management ideas for bunq I was actually hoping for

Hello everyone,

While I 100% agree with the importance of greener living, bunq’s 🌈 core value-add in my view always was making money management easy; not saving trees. If I’d want to save trees, I would donate straight to a charity for this. Yes, it’s cool bunq does this, but it’s not your main thing.

What I WOULD love to see are updates on for example...

...the pie chart (e.g. different slice&dice of transactions, also showing 1st order sources of spend instead of only a bucketing thereof)

...some actual insights (e.g. “you bought €xxx more at Albert Heijn this month”, “Bol.com is your primary monthly spending source”, “Spend on food has been increasing for 5 months”, and so on. Real insights)

...maybe different charting options on total spend (pie, bar, year-view, etc.)

...a number somewhere denoting sum of scheduled payments for this month (personally hoped for this for update 14). Would love to see a super easy way of seeing the total sum of all planned payments for the upcoming month

...what else?

Look, I really like bunq 🌈 - I am just afraid that, for simplicity’s sake, the app will sort of ‘dumb down’ and forfeit on features like these, while I’m sure we can have the best of both worlds.

Thanks for everything guys, really hoping to see whether other people feel the same way and in turn whether bunq 🌈 includes this feedback in their next sprint planning sessions.

I also agree. The insights thing on money spent would be very useful!

      Would be awesome indeed!

Consider to hop over to an other bank who does this already... when they launching in the Netherlands i definitely will hop over. Really good options are pointed out here.. bunq has to listen otherwise it will lose allot of users.

Completely agreed 🌈! Good initiatives. As also mentioned in this threat, extending insights would be great: https://together.bunq.com/d/27217-a-more-insightful-insights

          The opportunity to:
          - Track incomes (for one or more/all my bunq accounts) and compare it to the previous month(s)
          - Track total balances over a few months, see analysis about it (how much did I spend in comparison to the previous month?)
          - Ability to split expenses for insights, so that I can exclude the dinner of friends at a bar when I pay, but still see mine.

Hi. Instead of implementing features that are related to financial functionality and requested by users (such as Garmin Pay, better overview of expenses, filter function in the bank statements etc.) it seems now bunq focuses its attention (regrettably for me) more on social media.

Honestly, I find it odd: why to mix and match FB and Instagram into the bunq app? What is the added value for us the users? To be better connected? I don't want to be better connected with my financial life and other bunq users. I consider it part of my private life.

I like the community around bunq and I hope the creative ideas and suggestions coming from them would be heard and considered. That's the real strength of bunq: they listen to us.

I hope after the V3 beta testers provide their opinion maybe more cool banking features ans services would be introduced rather than simply redesigning and integrating social media platforms into the bunq app.

              @Sander-Aquamarine-Dragon#167120 Great ideas!!

Yes, please make something like this.

Agreed! Especially with the various (real) insights and the sum of scheduled payments.

                    @Souhayl-Pink-Swan#167315 Thank you

@zakaria 100% agree. That's just the kind of features I got to know (and really fell in love with) bunq. All these features could then just hide in the 'statistics' section and would be there for access on demand. I personally budget quite intense and bunq is already quite a good tool for this. With the features you're requesting here we would go even further into this direction and serve all of us who want to have a strong partner for sorting payments on the short, and building wealth on the long run.

I really love to give back and it's cool bunq is supporting this thinking. I just think this should be done with a clear positioning in understatement.

Of course we're serving the environment. Would be awesome to find the numbers in the statistics section (just as I personally do with the annual report of my other bank - triodos).
'We as bunq think it should be so normal to support the environment we don't go out there screaming we'd all be individuals posting our new environmental-friendly stuff on a environmental-unfriendly Instagram. We instead think it's just so far away from what we could consider normal to not serve the environment.'

Long story short: nice initial post. Hope Ali gets to read it.

Agreed. Green initiatives are great, but right now gaining useful insights about the spending habits of me and my family (using shared accounts) is much more important.

@Shelloggs#167373 Wholeheartedly agree. It less so about us not being advocates for a greener future (I chose a big chunk of my master’s to be on sustainability), and more so about getting the fintech banking experience.

100% mee eens!! Dank voor het delen, Zakaria

This is exactly what I was hoping for when I saw the new "Business Intellegence" feature where the App seem to me make a prediction. But after a few updates I still see no changes neither improvement. Very nice suggestion Zakaria, thanks!

Is see Bunq update 14 is mostly about social and profiling. Which is ok, I guess. But personally, I'm not on social media and I'm not too concerned about what others think of me. What I like about Bunq is:
                                - a shared view on budgets with my significant other
                                - ability to realtime re-assign money to other budgets, in absolute transparency

Instead of competing with others on spending, I would love to save and spend money on stuff we value. Like good education for our children. Most people will have some real challenges. According to the Dutch Nibud, having a child in college will cost about 75.000 euros. A new house will cost you about 400.000 euros. A car might cost you 15.000 euros every four years. Swimming lessons will cost you over 1000 euro per child. You want your kids to learn to play music, participate in a team sport, and experience some different cultures in the world first hand. Most people will not be able to pay for all the stuff they want.

In other words, life, and money management, is about making concessions and about determining what really matters. Difficult as that may be, these are discussions you'll also have to make with your significant other.

The budgeting, the ability to realtime move money around, the absolute transparency helps a lot. Try to help us even more in the next update.
