I'm very happy that ING is now finally enabling Apple Pay. This will make some of my kids pretty happy. Some of the other kids are Bunq users like me (via my Pack subscription), so they seem to have to wait a little longer.

I'm very thankful that I enabled Apple Pay with bunk the morning after the official introduction in Spain and Italy. [...], which works great for us. In the area we live in we seem to be the only ones able to use the Apple Watch for payments. For wel over a year now. it is so convenient I prefer not to go without it anymore 😃

Eelco Maljaars I have the same experience: activated AP on the day of introduction in Spain/Italy and my wife later [...]. Unfortunately activating AP didn’t work for my (minor) kids (both premium member in a bunq pack): Apple rejects it if the Apple ID belongs to a minor.

So the real news is that Apple Pay is now available in The Netherlands for ALL banks :-D

Remains the question why bunq not yet made an announcement ..🤔

Jurjen I think it'll take years before all major banks are on board with Apple Pay. Rabobank, for example, has repeatedly said they think Apple Pay is too expensive.
Apple has individual agreements with every bank. Apple might go the Belgian route where only one bank is supported at launch, who knows?

Koen van Leeuwen yes, apple limits card activations for Pay to persons 18 and older, and offers it for children below that age with only a hand full of USA-banks under more strict guidelines. As a general rule, Apple Pay from Apple's own perspective is only available for adults 18 and up. Changing your birthdate in your Apple ID is ill-advised and may lead to the total closure of that Apple ID on Apple's discretion

I think it'll be accepted by almost the speed of light by the major banks - and bunq of course. Because the tech-savvy/young are moving fast to the banks who are offering this, often even free banks like Revolut, N26, or Monese. Don't forget that the tech-savvy and young are where the future money is and people tend to stay at their bank once they're settled and happy with that bank.

They simply don't have a choice, specifically in a time where people don't feel much loyalty to their regular old greedy banks who were responsible for much of the 2008 recession and other criminal disasters and sympathy is with the tech startups.

LvH According to Ali they weren’t and it was ripped out of context, bunq fixed that bug on their own accord - not because Apple was angry. (Again, according to Ali in an interview.)

Yeah sure... and because (or even though?) Apple "weren't angry", they immediately edited the whole Apple Pay segment out of their Update webcast back then, even though it was their most highly-anticipated highlight of the evening? Wasn't Ali even showing the purported "bug" as a workaround live on stage?

Als het al niet op dezelfde dag geactiveerd word bij meerdere banken in Nederland, wat hoogstwaarschijnlijk is, dan zeker wel na een beperkte periode exclusief bij ING. 1 juli beginnen?!

Hemmik Ben bang dat dat niet aan bunq is, anders had je hetzelfde kunnen zeggen in België toen BNP Paribas/Fortis de exclusieve rechten een paar maanden kreeg. :( Maar we weten nog niet of ING de enige is of wanneer het gaat lanceren, Apple heeft nog niets losgelaten en ING is ook lekker vaag in het persbericht.
