• What's the idea with the new milestone badges?

So I just got a pop-up, congratulating me with my first card payment. I like the ability to have some statistics on certain milestones, but on the other hand, bunq is a bank and thus is a necessity. I won't spend more, or make more connected accounts to unlock a badge.


Is it possible to turn this feature off, or at least to turn the popups off?

    We're thrilled that you have had a positive experience with our latest feature - the milestone trophies!

    The good news is that you will only receive 1 pop-up notification for each of the 11 milestones. Once you have made your first card payment, you will no longer receive these pop-ups.


    These are the following milestones:


    🏆My first group account

    🏆My first bunq.me payment

    🏆My first card payment

    🏆My first month with bunq

    🏆My first received payment

    🏆My first friend joined

    🏆My first online payment

    🏆My profile is complete

    🏆My first paid request

    🏆My first split bill

    🏆My first secondary account payment


    For other matters you can, of course, disable notifications by opening your Profile page - Security & Settings - Notifications if you wish to disable push notifications for Payments, Requests, Card payments, Together, Administration and Other Messages. Just bear in mind that notifications for every incoming and outgoing transaction are highly advisable to keep enabled as you will always be aware of all important activities taking place in your account.

    To answer your question, at present time, it is not possible to disable future milestone pop-ups but always keep an eye over here for future updates. At bunq no day is like the other, which means that we are constantly working to provide you with an experience unlike any other 🌈!

      I'm no huge fan of the feature as well. I like bunq for it's innovational philosophy but badges seem out of place. I am also disappointed you can't disable the feature as a whole.

        Yes please add an option to disable the badges. I do a lot of payments since I joined bunq in 2016, but now I get notifications and events telling me I just did my first payment or my first request and many more like that.

        I understand the value for new bunqers, sort of onboarding process. But as an existing bunqer I don’t need it and don’t like the extra events in my timeline. 🧐

            We hear ya - We've created this feature for our users to see how far along they've come in using many of our services. We want to offer all bunqers this experience and that means not only include this feature for the newcomers 🦄

            Even though we understand that with every new feature, opinions will vary.

            With that said, do bear in mind that it is merely a one-time notification per milestone. 😅

              I was considering making a post regarding these badges. I assume these badges were added for giving users some ideas of what they can do, make the app more fun and maybe even add a sense of achievement. However, bunq is an app used for money management. For most, this is a serious thing, not some sort of achievement hunt.

              Although I secretly do like the idea, I feel the implementation is a bit... unprofessional.

              My advice: either make these badges opt-in and actually add some 'hard to achieve' goals in trade for a small reward (use your bunq card 1000 times / make x amount of posts on together --> gain an achievement and get send some stickers) or remove them altogether and focus on making the app EVEN better!

                I am missing the milestone "My first million" lol

                Seriously, I do not think a bank should do this.

                  I don’t like the new badges at all. Get rid of them or optional.

                    Please Bunq, make a disable button for every kind of notification separately.

                      Yep. Very annoying feature.

                        Well, we can discuss if this is something you need in a banking app. I think this is primarily a funny way to motivate NEW users to use some of the features. For the average hardcore user as myself, it is very easy to earn almost all of badges within days :) I find it a funny gimmick. bunq is all about making banking fun.

                        But... at this point I think bunq should focus on key features instead of gimmicks.

                          Please take them out, bunq. This is a banking app, not some game. If I want to run around collecting trophies I'll download Pokémon.

                            Just to voice my own opinion concerning the badges: this is just childish and has no place in a banking app. After receiving a badge I feel... dirty... And not in a good way.


                            However I'm interested to hear from someone who likes this new addition. And the why.

                              Please add an option to disable these annoying badges. They add nothing for me but annoyance.

                                Instead of introducing these useless features fix some actual bugs... Still get my old address when I download the annual overview....
