So.. earlier today I thought giving v3 a try might be fun. How bad could it be? Hopefully they solved all those nagging issues I had been complaining about. Especially being able to access/manage multiple memberships seemed like a nice feature, since I have to business memberships and a private membership.
It was terrible.
To cut a long and frustrating story short: My first v3 experience was total confusing. After logging in I saw a black screen with 3 empty black circles. I didn't get it. I assumed I could somehow fill them with relevant content but never really got that far.
At some point I tried to re-login and my fingerprint auth immediately failed. Logging in using the pincode resulted in "network issues" (there were no network issues on my side).
I reinstalled, reconfirmed emails, etc. Everything worked (even entering the wrong pincode worked) except actually logging in. I couldn't get into my account, access my money. Not the best banking experience.
The only way to get support was email (since I couldn't login, and twitter couldn't help me but, fortunately, they could prioritize my email request).
Eventhough I sent a lengthy and detailed description of the problem with screenshots, the initial blame was on my side. After confirming it was really an issue with v3 and everything pointed to some sort of backend issue the supportemployee noticed there was a known intenal bug being worked on.
I would get notified if it got fixed.
I didn't get notified.
Fortunately, by now I am able to login (hence I can send this post) but the situation is till the same: empty black screen with three empty circles. No access to the actual accounts, no ways to view transactions, accept requests or send payments. I still can't fully access my money.
I also had bunq installed on a tablet. I made sure auto update was disabled and tried to login there - that works. I can sort of access my accounts there again.
Since v3 is the future and there's no future in v3 to me, this means switching again. I actually (literally!) cancelled my Rabo bank business accounts this week (and earlier this year canceled my personal accounts) but I guess I have to do it all over again.
Can you have "overstapservice" on top of "ovestapservice? I do hope so.
I tried many banks: ABN AMO, Rabobank, KNAB, SNS. They all had issues. But neve did they lock me out of my account this way. Never did they give me such poor and slow support.
Did you notice I didn't really bitch about the v3 UX here? I don't really care that much - as long as I can access my money. Now that that's an uncertainty with Bunq, Bunq can be considered the most suckiest of them all.
Tomorrow I'm gonna start registering for an openbank account. At least I'll have a backup and I'm pretty sure it can't be worse than Bunq. And then start that slow and boring process of migrating to some other bank again.
TL;DR: Bunq broke in such a way that I couldn't access my money. Bunq is still broken this way after 6 hours. Bunq doesn't seem to care if it's not instagrammable.
