  • Activate Apple Pay on new device?

I got Apple Pay on my watch in NL through the spain ‘workaround’ some time ago, which still works perfectly. I’m looking at the new Apple devices (watch & iphone). Is it possible to transfer my Apple pay, or does it need to verify (and fail, because the workaround was shut down)?

Not possible unfortunately, Apple Pay and other Wallet information needs to be set up again after restoring an iCloud backup because of security reasons

Certainly possible. just add the cards manually using the card number and CVC. Make sure to have the region of both the watch and phone to a supported region.

@Hemmik#34358 Can I test this by adding it to another iPhone or can I only have Apple Pay activated on 1 device at a time for 1 card?

You can add it to any iPhone, on multiple devices.

Does this work with the standard iCloud backup or only with an encrypted iTunes backup?

@Hein#34382 Apple Pay cards are not backupped to the cloud.

                Jurgen,

Can you explain the 'spain workaround'?

                Regards,
                Frits.

                  @Frederik-Golden-Kiwi#34385 Hi Frits,

Apple pay was available for 1 day in NL after it was launched in Spain. It was possible to enable it by setting the country of the device to Spain.

Sadly this workaround was disabled the next day by Apple

Ok, thanks. And what if I set up a new iPhone as a Spanish one?

@Frederik-Golden-Kiwi#34387 You need an "Apple-Pay-activated"-Card, which only spanish or italian residents get at the moment. The workaround with changing the region just worked for about 1day. Out there are some bunqrs who have a website bunq.love, which does it a little different.

Just to let you know, it worked setting it up on my new phone!

@Jurgen-Teal-Leopard#34461 You already got your hands on a shiny new Xs, Xs Max or Xr? 😏

Haha, wish I did. Decided to go for the ‘old’ iPhone X + Apple watch 4 (which I’m waiting for)

@Jurgen-Teal-Leopard#34461 How did you do it?

@Eric-Green-Badger#34484 Just like hammik said, add the card manually in the wallet/Apple pay settings of the new iPhone using the card nr and cvc

@Jurgen-Teal-Leopard#34485 But maestro has no cvc? Do u use the mastercard instead of the maestro card?

Same question for me... I really like to order the new iPhone Xs, however I want to be sure that I can get a new "card" from Bunq for my new Apple device. Like Jurgen was explaining, the Spain / Italy workaround is no longer possible. So anyone who's using Apple Pay with Bunq in NL and purchases a new iPhone, please let us know if you were able to setup Apple Pay on your new device.

@Gerrit-Magenta-Wolf#34548 Just read what is written above, it will work. Just add the card manually and you should have no problem.
