With Easy Budgeting you set your own limits 🚀

What’s AutoSelect?
With AutoSelect the bunq app will automatically detect the category of your expenses and make the payment from the correct Easy Budgeting Bank Account.
For example - you pay at the cinema with your bunq card which is connected to a regular Bank Account. However, at the same time you have a budget for Entertainment, which isn’t linked to the card. In such case, AutoSelect will deduct the funds automatically from the corresponding budget, if the balance is sufficient - easy as that 🙌
You can activate and deactivate AutoSelect by following these easy steps:
- Go to the 🏠 Home tab
- Select the card you want to use AutoSelect with
- Tap on the Bank Account under Pay From
- Tap on AutoSelect
- Done ✅
I no longer need Easy Budgeting for my Bank Account. Can I disable it?
Yes, you can! Simply follow these easy and fast steps:
- Go to the 🏠 Home tab
- Select the Bank Account
- Tap on ⚙️ Settings
- Select Easy Budgeting
- Turn off the toggle
How can I create a Custom Payment Category?
Want to get personalized insights on your spending? With bunq Update 22, we introduced Custom Payment Categories so you can fully personalize your spending insights with customizable categories!
You can have up to 9 customized categories, which you can create when opening a new Easy Budgeting account by following these simple steps:
- Go to the Budgeting tab
- Tap the three dots in the Spending Insights section
- Tap on Create Dedicated Bank Account
- Tap on Categories
- Select + Add Custom Category
- Personalize the new category
- Click on "Create"
- Done!
Once you create a new customized payment category and manually add payments to it, you'll be able to teach the Spending Insights engine to recognize the category better so it automatically adds relevant payments in the future. This way, the app provides you the overview you want to see - all based on the insights you need.
How can I teach the bunq app to better recognise payments in my Custom Payment Category?
Easy! By allowing the category to be applied to all similar payments to the one you want to categorize. In order to do so, you can simply follow these steps:
- Go to the 🏠 Home tab
- Select a Bank Account
- Tap on the payment you want
- Tap Category
- Select "Category"
- Choose the Custom Payment Category you want
- Set the category to match "All similar payments"
- Done!
