Hey bunqers 🌈
Whether you're planning for a big purchase, saving for a rainy day, or simply want to keep a close eye on your daily spending, the Budgeting tab is designed to make budgeting so easy you’ll actually do it. With just a tap in the app, you get instant access to spending category breakdowns and monthly comparisons, and you easily set up smart automations that help you save.
Spending Insights
Upon opening the Budgeting tab, you'll be greeted with a graph that provides real-time, current data about your monthly expenses.
You can add external Bank Accounts to your Spending Insights overview for a comprehensive view of all your finances. Your Budgeting tab will now reflect all your spending, both within and outside bunq. The steps on how to filter the Bank Accounts in your Spending Insights can be found here.
Adding external Bank Accounts is currently available for our Dutch, German and French users. We’ll keep you updated as we’re adding more countries! More details on the Dutch, German and French banks available for the matter can be found here.
The Budgeting tab allows you to easily compare with previous months, making it a powerful tool for managing your finances. You can view your spending per category and easily set spending limits. When you’ve spent 80%, 95% or 100% of a spending limit, the bunq app will send you a notification, making it easier to stay on budget without having to think about it.
From your category graph, you can create dedicated Bank Accounts for specific categories and budget from them automatically. You can budget for yourself or together with your partner by adding your Joint Budgeting Bank Account to the overview. See how you can do so, here 📊
Below the Budgeting graph you’ll find a pie chart where you see a breakdown of your monthly spend per category. By categorizing all your monthly expenses, you easily see where your money goes, empowering you to make informed decisions about your finances!

Note: If you have one or more Joint (Savings) Accounts at bunq, any category settings you change or Budgets you create will only apply to your own Personal account.
AutoVAT
AutoVAT automatically calculates and sets aside VAT on all your incoming and outgoing payments, saving you valuable time: whenever it’s time to pay taxes, you’ll already have a dedicated Bank Account with the right amount on it 🧮
To set the AutoVAT of your Business account, follow the steps mentioned here.
AutoSave
Save money effortlessly! With AutoSave every outgoing payment you make, including those from Joint and Connected accounts, is rounded up to the nearest €1. The difference between the actual payment amount and the rounded-up amount is then automatically transferred to your savings account 💸
Further information about AutoSave can be found here.
Payment Sorter
With Payment Sorter, you can automatically sort your incoming payments to specific categories like bills, savings, or daily expenses. It saves you time and effort in manual sorting and ensures that you automatically have enough money set aside for things like rent, utilities or groceries, while always knowing how much you have left for things like travel, shopping, a new phone, or anything you like!
Detailed information about this feature can be found here.
