Instant Payments - Transfer money between banks within 10 seconds!I remember times where, if someone paid me on a Friday, it could take until Monday for the money to come in. This led to… less than ideal situations (like eating instant noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner two days in a row). With the new Instant Payments, this is a thing of the past.

Yes, you read that right! πŸ˜„ Instant Payments are here and bunq is among the first European banks to offer these revolutionary money transfers. πŸ’Έ No longer will you have to wait days (and even weekends) for your money to arrive. With Instant Payments you can transfer money in seconds.

"But," I hear you ask, "hasn't bunq been offering instant payments since 2015?" Why yes, we certainly have. 😎 This has been so for bunq-to-bunq payments and top ups. Other banks weren't ready at that time, but we're glad to see them join us in the future.

Indeed the tides are turning rapidly in favour of users everywhere. πŸŽ‰ The European Payment Council (EPC) announced that 600 banks across Europe will offer Instant Payment support, but only bunq and 20 other banks (including ABN AMRO) have already gone live.

We are proud and happy to see an industry such as our own embrace and strive for user-oriented innovation. Instant Payments will be available 24 hours per day and 365 days per year. πŸ—“ That means you can make payments whenever you want, including holidays and weekends.

Keen to give Instant Payments a try? I totally get it, I do too. So, here's the deal: find yourself a friend, family member or partner with ABN AMRO and have them send you a payment. Simple, right?

If you want to read more about Instant Payments, please have a look at the EPC website and find an updated list of participating banks here.

What do you think the next big innovation will be? Let us know in the comments!

This is beyond amazing! My other bank here in Spain also participates and I feel like I've arrived in the future every time I transfer money, open the other banking app and, is already there!

Instant payments have been around for quite a while in the UK via FPS, but uptake has varied a lot from bank to bank. It is a joy though when you do find two institutions on the system

Only seems to work with ABN Amro bank tho, even while ING Bank is on the list as active already at the same time as ABN Amro ;)

          Hi EvertπŸ‘‹

Yes this is a known thing. ING is on the list because they have instant payments (receiving only) in Spain πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ for their Retail clients since november 17'. It is a little confusing though as they are listed as a Dutch bank🏦.

@John-Aquamarine-Cheetah#32703 Faster Payments do not work through SEPA. This is a sub specification of the SEPA standard which aims to provide a single standard for payments in the eurozone. But since brexit, why bother to implement ;)
